I want to get a red and trout mounted. This will be my first fish to mount. What is the process? When i catch the one ready to mount just throw it in the freezer and wait until i get the other?

Also, who do y'all recommend bringing it to? I am in the BR area.

You can also take a bunch of measurements and pictures and get a replica made.

Yeah, get a replica made. Easier process and it will last forever. Skin mounts are old school

And it allows you release that big trout.

That being said, if it wins STAR, weigh it

Personally I prefer the skin mounts. The replicas always look plastic to me. Maybe I just haven't seen a good one tho.

I've seen trout mounts that are same quality as some of the Bobcats I've seen on here,be careful who you use if you do a skin mount for trout.. reds must be easier most of those I've seen are decent although some get carried away with the painting process

check out New Wave Taxidermy in FL. I follow him on Instagram and he does excellent work. There is also a guy in South LA that gets mentioned a bit, but I can't think of his name.

This is a skin mount I had done, price was right and I've never seen a fiberglass one I liked. I also don't usually release any big fish except reds.

Look up Matthew Courville in Carencro. He does some great fish work. Hes got a red and speck hanging on his wall that look like they just got taken out the water. He is on FB and his number is 337-523-6288.

after having a skin mount done, watching the process and seeing how the skin loses all of its color and has to be fully repainted anyway...I'm gonna go fiberglass mount next
