an '87 YJ. It wasn't quite what I was looking for, but for the price, it was a deal. The guy I bought it from put an LT1 V8 motor in it from a '95 Corvette. Now i guess i won't have to worry about acceleration issues. got it for $4k. still has the AX15 transmission. he got an advanced adapter for it to bolt together. pretty sweet driving so far.

It's a unique vehicle experience, no doubt. Welcome aboard, brother. And just go ahead and file for divorce and save yourself a LOT of time since she's not going to understand anything you do with it in terms of your off time and dollars spent and time obsessing over it online using jeep forums etc

That was some of my reasoning when I first bought mine (98 tj). Had it for almost three years now. Still seem to fix something new on it every couple of months, but still loving it.

I would personally remove the air intake, try to either replace it for a factory one. That is, if you're gonna put her arse in the dirt a bit. Of course, that's a highly debated topic full of conjecture... I just wouldn't risk it myself.

*edit*

bad arse motor btw! I plan on keeping my jku forever. when it's time for a new car, i will gut the engine, transmission etc and just start over. i think when i bought this vehicle it will be my last one to buy from a lot. i love it that much.

Man, not long ago I was watching a guy advocate for the square over round Jeep headlights. I was utterly boggled. Yeah, OP, get those lights customed to a round look!

Be alert and practice your wave. If you don't wave back at another jeep, shite gets real.

That person is a monster.

The OP's YJ is still cooler than any dorky JK running around with an entire quadratec catalogs worth of shite bolted all over it. Every time I see a smitty built bumper or an LED light bar I throw up a little bit in my mouth. Almost as bad a stingers and ladders with jerry cans.

Could have stopped there.

I loved my old YJ back in the late 90s. '91, bright red, with a small lift and some meatier tires. It was a beast with the 4.0L. I couldn't imagine the trouble I would have found myself in with a big V8 in it.

believe me, that motor is useless to me. don't get me wrong though. the guy did a great job on it so i won't touch it. it drives good. that's all i can ask for.

Chrome fricking grill...yea. The only thing on my truck that's dipped are the front Toyota emblem and the rear bumper. Makes it look way better, not even a matter of opinion...it just does.
