Have 222k miles on my 2002 dodge ram. Had a leak in the power steering around 150k and a leak in the radiator around 210k. Besides that, no real issues. Still drives great and I intend to drive it until it shits the bed.

I wish they'd offer a cheaper model without the cylinder cutouts but otherwise I like that engine. I'd rather see the GM transmission behind it but that's just personal preference. It's a fantastic work trucm

I had a 2008 Silverado until 2015 and traded it in for a Ram 1500. Lost it in the flood and bought another one. Ride quality is 100x better and I pull a 45 hp tractor with it 2 to 3 times a year that the Silverado didn't want to handle. Haven't put more than 25k miles on one yet but my dad has owned dodges '05 and has had no issues.

The knock on Dodge is the resale value, it's way behind anything else on the market. Cost about the same new but loses way more than others so cost of ownership is high.

Take this FWIW, I just spec'd all half tons all as close as I could to my previous truck (2011 Ram Sport with 78,500 when I traded it)...resale values went:
1) Toyota
2) GMC
3) Chevrolet
4) Ram
5) Ford
6) Nissan

Ram and Ford were neck and neck, Ram had a very slight edge.

I also learned that Salsbury in BR ripped me off of about $1000 on trade assuming KBB is a good source (which I've been told by someone who's family owns multiple dealerships that it absolutely is).

Those book prices are usually about as good as the paper they are written on. Look around on CL and your local paper to see what they are really selling for, BTW this is the wrong time to be buying a car or truck. Tax refunds will be coming in very soon and cars/trucks will be 10-20% higher right now. Tax season should be over by May-June timeframe.

I think KBB searches a database of sales in or near your location. I take the numbers with a grain of salt, but it is a standard comparison.

I'm not buying right now though. Traded my 2011 for a 2015 in August of 2015. Even though I think I got hosed on the trade value, the truck I bought was a good deal.

I am not a crew cab, etc truck guy. I like single cabs, and when my current ride dies, I have considered looking at a Ram. That hemi feels great. I am just meh on the exterior styling of Rams.

I've bought a new one in 2007, still driving it. Other than normal wear & tear items I've replaced 1 coil pack & a water pump. It needs an evap solenoid replaced, but since I don't have to deal with emissions inspections and it doesn't effect performance I haven't bothered to change it out.

JD Power had Ram in its top 10 (#9) for the 2016 dependability survey.

Haven't had to sell one yet but when my '15 flooded, insurance gave me what I paid for it even with 24k miles and almost 1 1/2 years old. Adjuster said they hold their value very well. Couldn't complain.

That's the 2500.

I'm a Tundra guy but my brother has had 2 Ram 1500's with few problems.
