Mine is prettier. I have a hawkhead parrot. He hunts for what treat I'm going to give him every day.

But really, that's a beautiful girl.

Looking forward to posts of your hunts. I've read them in the past, and it's one of the coolest things I've seen on the web. Even better than Cannonball Run and Bill Dance bloopers, so that's saying a lot.

I'd pay good money for you to put on a display of squirrel slaughter in my neighborhood if you're passing through.

Have you though about catching and taming a bald eagle?

Well, let's not get carried away.

To answer a couple of questions:

1: Her name is "Watts". My wife does all the naming around here. This bird is sort of a "tweener" on size so I'm not really sure if it's a male or female. I'm leaning female. My wife named her after the tomboy in that old John Hughes move, Some Kind of Wonderful.

2. Bald eagles are off limits. A few people do have special permits for golden eagles, but you really need the wide open spaces of the west and jackrabbits to do well with them.

And thanks for all the replies, everyone. I was just posting some funny photos, but since some have asked, I'll try to add some hunting photos as she progresses.

I was always under the impression that a bald eagle was just a decent looking buzzard.

Pretty much. Sometimes they catch a fish too, or steal one from an Osprey.

Many states Rabbits are open all year, does alabama not have something like that?

I'd assume you are allowed to hunt with them basically anywhere? I mean there's not minimum acreage or what not like some states have for regular hunting? As in, you could hunt a commercial park or anywhere in a city basically? City powerline, etc? I mean its not dangerous to do around people in other words? Do the birds get distracted easily and prefer to be in the "woods"?

In florida, Rabbits are open year round on private land. That's why I ask?

We have a rabbit season. Sept 16 - March 4 this year, but falconers get an extra month (through march).

So you hunt the whole time then right? That's a pretty solid chunk of the year. How many days a week do you hunt and how long usually? I'd assume you don't usually go for more than a couple hours?
