Have anybody seen these new coolers? Buddy of mine set me the link. A thermometer for drain plug? whatever happened to opening up and just seeing if beer is cold enough or the old 7 minute trick? I see they fit RTIC and YETI also so I'm guess they will sell a bunch

How else would you know your Yeti is properly precooled without a thermometer?

If you use that bastard Fahrenheit scale. Celsius rules!

Ice water is 32 degrees. Ice can actually be much colder. Ice water is the way to go, though.

But do I get a sticker?
For $5 you can get the decal w/o buying the cooler (follow the link).

The thermometer/drain plug can be purchased too. Website says the thermometer fits Yeti & Rtic coolers.

Duh. I mean, how did folks function back in the day?
Ice just melted, I guess - has to be a metaphor in there, somewhere.

what really bugs me is why doesn't igloo get a clue and double the thickness of there basic $20 48 qt ice chests?
I would pay $30-$40 for one if they did that but i'll never pay more then $50 for any ice chest, even if it gets delivered by strippers giving free lap dances
at some point you would think after seeing idiots spending $400 on a yeti that maybe there is a market out there for an ice chest with thicker insulation that costs well under $100? they only have 1/2" foam in em now and I cant imagine it would cost much to double that to 1" thick with better lids

Or you could be like me and just drink the beer before the ice melts. I have no need for a freaking cooler that will keep ice for a week. I will eat or drink everything out of it in a day.
Even when I go on our annual 3 night deep see trip the damn boat has 3 ice machines.
It is the stupidest shite I have ever heard of...

I hear ya, its just I fish around 7-8 hour long trips and around mid august can be a time where I would like a little extra help making one bag of ice last the whole fishing trip until I get back home, that's all

I dont know why i despise the new high tech cooler trends so much, but i do. I just do.

Is the contents in my ice chest cold?
Yes- good
No- spend $2.00 and put some ice in there.
I'd rock a Coleman sticker on the back of my truck any day.

To me I can't justify 400 on a yeti. But I did just 130 for a 45 rtic. To me it's much less about how well the ice lasts and how much better these ice chests hold together. These ich chests will last a lifetime whereas I'm constantly buying or fooling with fricked up hinges and handles on an igloo which pisses me off beyond belief.
I'll actualy be interested to see if the trend of these rotomolded coolers causes the industry to slow when people aren't having to replace their ice chests every four years

For hinges, take an old leather workbelt, cut about 3 inches, screw that bitch to the lid and ice chest.
Handles, on the other hand, can be done with some rope similar to the almighty yeti handles and duck tape an old rag to the rope to grab on to. Done it plenty times.

Yeah until the screws start pulling out. Trust me I have done all of that. Even to the point of through bolting stainless hardware all around. I finally said frick it and bought the rtic and have never been happier.
Trust me I hated on my buddies with their yetis but deep down the rotomolded cooler is the way to go. Not saying. To spend 200+ but spending 150 dollars on these coolers is absolutely worth it.

I keep a cooler in my backseat fully loaded and it lasts all work week.

I know man, I'm just giving you hell. I have a yeti and 2 rtics. And a kysek....j/k. And I've thrown away more igloos and colemans than I'd care to mention. But my grandpa still has igloos with the checker tops from 1978 and they still rocking the original hardware. shite blows my mind.
