Who has experience with these? Any pros and cons to certain makes and models?

I know a couple of the big names(kamado Joe, brig green egg). Looking to grab one up for outdoor kitchen.

All the top tier cook about the same, the advantage of the Primo XL over the eggs is the firebox divider allowing for indirect cooking and a larger cooking surface.

Yeah I noticed that when I was researching. Cooked a Boston Butt on my cousins BGE this past weekend, it was perfect. I thought my smoker was great, but damn I was wrong.

Told the wife we would be ditching the gas grill for one. Been seeing a Char-Griller brand for about $300-$350. Has decent reviews. Wonder if it would be worth the savings?

I've had a Chargriller Akorn for going on 3 years. It's been great. I know some people have to mod theirs a bit to get a perfect seal but mine sealed great out of the box. Not sure if it will have the longevity of a ceramic since it has more points of rust failure but so far mine has done everything I've asked of it.

I recently bought the gas grill kamado combo at sams club and have been using the ceramic grill much more than the gas side. Much easier to control the heat than the gas grill

Lots of good threads between the OB and F&D boards if you search.

Primo all the way. If getting a round in the 18" size, my favorite is the grill dome.

Check out Vision brand grills. They have a pull out ash tray that is supper easy to use. It also has a slot for a electric starter at the bottom.

Love my primo xl. You can burn 15+ hours on one load of coal. It's awesome setting a brisket and knowing the temp won't change 5 degrees the entire time it cooks.

Also, Primo is American made and BGE is made in Mexico.

Primo XL FTW.

Looked at the primo's all day. The fact that You can cook directly or indirectly is nice.

Plus, it's made here in the greatest country on the planet

Have had a lg BGE for 5+ years. Love it but would certainly look at the makes/models with the oval shaped cooking area. BGE's are circular.

I was. Looking at the Primo oval and see that it's $1600. Do these typically go one sale during one specific time of the year?
