After the flood, the river dropped about 4" of silt in the yard. It was a majority sand with some clay mixed in. We left the yard alone and grass and weeds grew through over the winter. I had bermuda before the flood and working to get it back. I sprayed some MSMA Target 6 last week that put a big dent in the weeds, but this stuff is still everywhere. Anyone have any ideas? Is it a cool season grass that will die off or am I going to have to hit it with something else?

pull up a clump
if it has rhizomes it's torpedo grass and you need to get it gone

I can't tell from picture but I hope you have bermuda if you sprayed msma.

Not sure what kind of grass those clumps are but msma should've killed other "grasses."

Kinda looks like crab grass, or, a cousin of it? If so, gonna have to get the roots out, bad stuff.

Definitely not nut grass. When I first looks at it I thought it was a clump of fescue.

I'm still leaning that way, but I had some clumps of grass in my empty lot that looked similar but it wasn't fescue. It may have been the torpedo grass that some one else said (not sure since I'm in TN). I had to hit it 3-4 times with high concentrated round up to kill it.

If it's this you're never really getting rid of it. Sledgehammer works, but it takes a couple weeks and that shite always pops back up somewhere else. They have a nut at the bottom, if you pull it then the nut will sprout more .

I have all kinds of stuff mixed in there and I'm sure a some of it is rye grass, my neighbor put it in his yard. These grass clumps are around 3" in diameter. I will try to dig one up tomorrow

Doesn't look like torpedo grass to me.
That abomination from hell doesn't grow in clumps like that. It sends underground runners like some sort of evil twin of st aug.
Unfortunately, I know because me, my neighbors, and practically everyone on our block has that crap.
Wish I could help on what it is, it just isn't torpedo grass

I'd say Italian ryegrass. Hopefully it's not glyphosate resistant. If it is hit it with Select.

It's a fescue. I know nothing about it other than I control mine by hand.
