Rode in my buddy's Pioneer 700-4 this past weekend at the camp. Was also very impressed with layout and the rear seating/bed functionality. I don't know a ton about them (trans problems) but I'm going to seriously consider one in a few yrs when I pull the trigger.

Do not buy a Polaris that is more than five years old. The price for a new one is to competitive to spend 2-3k on one that old.

I personally prefer the kubota sxs if speed is not a priority

My Ranger is just too wide and heavy to go where that little Honda Pioneer did. I stayed in the gas spooking game all winter getting thru areas or trying to make a trial I could pass on. These big tired 4 wheelers and SXS have ruined the small quiet paths in the woods. Everything is a dang bog hole. That pioneer had a narrow path that stayed out of the established ruts and could leave the trail about anywhere to go around the bog holes idiots have made in the hunting woods. Several times I had to go plum out of site of a path to go around some of them holes because of the size of my Ranger. Pioneer muffler so quiet I had no clue it was running most of the day. I'm severely impressed and strongly considering this weekend to be my last with this dang Tank of a Ranger

I’m old too – I opened the thread to see wick wax poetic about Damascus barrels and pretty wood

At work we use Kubota sxs and the boys here could break an anvil, Kubota seem to last for small tractors, SXS and lawn equipment

go get a midsized 570 ranger the cost new is not bad at all plus i think they have rebates right now

I had a midzide and hated it. I stepped up to a fullsize CC with the 570. Never had an issue with power for what I do. I run 27" tires on it. The fullsize 570 isn't but like $1500 more than the midsize and worth the extra coin IMO.
