Want a bolt action in 308. I think I've narrowed it down to Tikka T3, Browning X-bolt or Winchester Model 70. Really liking the X-bolt right now.

Pros/Cons of these 3 guns?

T3 is the consensus here. No other rifles are accepted.

Which is the only reason I added it to my list. I didn't want to receive any backlash.

Too much plastic on the X bolt for me. Is the t3's mag polymer or metal?

Nothing as long as you get it in .243 or 6mm.

polymer, the mag can survive 12,004,307 years and not have to worry about rust or weathering.

This has been discussed a lot. It's personal preferance, everyone that has one of the 3 guns mentioned thinks theirs is the best. Shoulder all 3 guns, see which one you like the most.

I'm not sold on the polymer mags, but rusting is not an issue. My mags for my 15 year old Remington 270 are rusted up

I just bought the x-bolt in 30-06 about two weeks ago. I was looking at the same three you are, the Browning just "Felt Right" when I held it up. I've only been to the range with it so far, to do the break in and get it sighted in, but I'm very happy with my purchase. Taking it on a hunt next week!

No wrong choice among those 3. Take the one you like best by looks or feel.

BTW - I own a Tikka T3 in 308 and a Win 70 in 30/06 and have shot a Xbolt quite a bit.

This. And see which one's operation you like the best, i.e. working the bolt, safety, etc. Of course, be aware that when you shoulder that gun in the store, you'll be looking through iron sights (if any at all). In the field, you'll be using a scope so your line of sight will need to be a little higher. That's ok w/ most stocks, but there may be a stock that naturally puts your line of sight a little too low for optimal scope use.

Out of the box on average the tikka will probably group better. I know the tikka has a 1 inch moa guarantee and I'm not sure about the others. I own a tikka and a Sako and hey both shoot under an inch easily. I do however want both the model 70 in the extreme weather, and a xbolt with the carbon fiber stock and stainless fluted barrel.
