A "gopher gun" may not be the best way, but it damn sure looks like a lot of fun...
Rodenator Pro
Here is their website.
They will allow you to rent their equipment.

My AmStaff mix and Dobe hunt the crap out of all rodents. They tag team them and the rodents don't have a chance. The Dobe is especially good at sensing and locating the sonic noise a vole makes and starts stomping the ground, then the AmStaff digs it up and takes it out. Here is a info sheet from the local county extension about moles/voles and removing them:

Some of those "silent" .22 rounds should do the trick. Fill the tunnels with a water hose and have some target practice.

1. Buy Jack Russell Terrier
2. Place one Jack Russell Terrier in mole-infested yard
3. ???
4. Profit

Used to have a lot of moles.

Kids found a stray kitten and adopted it. It stays outside.

Anything with four legs smaller than the cat that comes into the yard dies. She loves eating moles. They must taste good because I find little mole heads on the front porch all the time.

We also gassed them by running a hose from the muffler of a peice of equipment to the hole.

I've heard this is pretty effective.

I ended up buying Sweeney's dead set mole trap from Home Depot. I found an active tunnel and set the trap. I just checked it two hours later and it already got one. One shovel stab later and I'm down 1 mole. I'm sure there are plenty more though.

Good idea.

I wonder if you could use propane and then light it.
