Is there a real life in use difference between Sedona and Sahara

I've got a couple Sedonas that have been abused and are still working great. I love these for a budget reel. Won't compare to a Stradic though.

Ok so the Stratic is highly recomened.
For a 100 less the new Sahara looks and feels pretty good. Is it a good reel? Is there a real life in use difference between Sedona and Sahara? What about the jump up to a Stratic? Is that 100 dollar jump worth it?

I have 2-3 Sedonas that have held up well, for whatever reason.

I've seen several $100 Shimano's on my boat that would jam/freeze up/hard to reel after about a year of service. Having them cleaned didn't do much to help either. Just not sure the lesser Shimanos have the parts to stand up to the salty situation.

There's 6 Stradics on my boat, and to my recollection, no issues with any of them.

Also Penns tend to be very rugged.

I caught a Penn battle II in Hopedale jigging the bottom this past December. I used it as soon as I pulled it in the boat, and it worked fine. I cleaned it up when I got home and it's smooth as new. It couldn't have been under water too long but the jig head on it was almost rusted out. That says something for durability of the reel.

Penn Battle II really seems like a good saltwater reel and the price is right. I've heard the downsides like line lay issues (but no one ever says they have that issue), paint wear (no big deal), and it's heavy. It is a heavier reel compared to some of the others, but it does seem built for salwater conditions.

Check eBay for the higher end reels. Many times, you can get a brand new one fore much cheaper.

I got a Calcutta 250 for $125, and it was brand new, still in the box and never used. Retail is between $209 and $250.
