In my opinion, the "best" flashlights are all headlamps.

Unless you need a real torch, and I get the tugboat lamp out.

The 50 runs longer and is cheaper but is not as bright.

The 200 is brighter and has cool inertia switch to control brightness.

I like the 200 better between the 2 because you can control the brightness.

NOTE: they do not have a lanyard attach point which is kinda dumb.

This the newest technology in the industry. Dual lenses, a flood on bottom a spot on end . 80 lumens both lense LED 3 AA gives you 15 hrs run time.......nothing else like it .....see where you at, see where you going at same time, and it just so happens to explosion proof .

I think the Rayovac lights from Home Depot are good buys. Headlamp and smaller handheld light are around 100 lumens for about $12. I've bought a couple of each.

Yeah I've got a Surefire Fury. Love that flashlight, and is worth every penny.

500 lumen for 1.5 hours, 15 lumen for 46 hours.

have to agree on the Led Lenser. I have three of them, T7, H7 and the V2. Awesome lights! Really like the H7!

I got one from woot for like $25. I forget the model, but it's bright as hell. They have them on there frequently.

I have a one and two battery AAA. The two battery one fits in my front shirt pocket at work. The single AAA battery one fits in my front jeans pocket next to my knife for all other times.

We use these at work. Great little light with a rotating magnetic clip that can be had for between $9-$15 depending on where you buy it and which model you get. Pretty damn bright.

Just an update. -

I went with the Maglite XL50. It is very bright and looks to be high quality. It is rated at 139 lumens and 6.5 hrs of battery life.

For comparison I had a a standard Minimag LED (77 lumens) a 240 Lumen Rayovac and a 230 lumen Chinese Cree LED light.

The XL 50 put out the best light of them all. It was significantly brighter than the Minimag. Between the other two, the differnece wasnt so much in brightness as it was in "light quality" I really dont know what else to call it.

The cheap chinese light washed out very quickly. It was very bright up close, but the light just didnt reach very far. The rayovac was much better, throwing a good beam out to 40 or 50 yardsm but at that distance the XL 50 seemed to be brighter.

All of the lights had new batteries - all but the Minimag (2 AA) used 3 AAA.

YRMV..... but i'm happy with my initial impression of the XL50. Now lets see if it holds up through deer season.

I have a Streamlight stylus pro. Uses two AAA. I like it because I can put in my shirt pocket like a pen at work. It was under $20 on Amazon. Not sure how many lumens it has.
