Have some friends going to film TV show down in Venice this week. I haven't been in ages so don't know the restaurant scene anymore.....Any recommendations I can give them or places to stay away from?

Posted on Food & Drink Board as well.

TIA

Venice Marina is good, if you've been on the water all day and have had nothing to eat.

This!
Stay away from the hot wings unless you have a box of Popsicles to wipe your arse with. That shite hurts the second time around.

i will say this: for a town that is built on recreational hunting & fishing opportunities there are shockingly few places open that sell gas, bait, and ice before 6AM and after about 7PM. and the fact that cypress cove regularly doesn't have live bait (or even basics like frozen shrimp on occasion??) is just absurd. and they won't sell you gas after 7PM.

Venice Marina isn't too bad, just your typical bar food. Ordered some snapper cheeks sat night that never made it to our table. They're also boiling crawfish on Friday and Saturday nights.

Venice marina is pretty good if you are there. they did cook us some fresh tuna we caught and it was very good. After duck hunting we usually hit up adams gorcery up the road a ways. best burger around there and cheap.

Saw a lot of boats going out trout fishing this past weekend. River was covered in thick fog, so you may get to sleep in a little longer.

if you want to finance a burger and fries go to the Venice Marina and the food is shite. I have turned down free meals there before. Got food poisoning front Black Velvet. I have done work in the kitchen at Cypress Cove and will never eat there..

Go to Adams and order what you want is all good..

If we're throwing Adams into the mix, I'll also suggest Maw's to grab a bite to go.

Every time I'v ever been to the Den the people have been friendly. We even took a couple guys from the bar out for their first ever shot at redfish on the fly and they took us duck hunting.

Don't start no shite, won't be no shite.

I prefer Venice Marina to most of the other stuff but it's nothing fancy. Black Velvet used to be good but isn't what it once was. There is an oriental place on the old highway between Buras and Empire it's pretty good but been a few years since I have eaten there.

Eating your own stuff while at the camp is the best option IMO.

Trout non existent right now, reds pretty good for the bachelor party guy.
