I was pulling up to the landing Sat right after it happen, and the helicopter just landed, ambulance was there. Sheriff was putting his boat in. Anyways I went again the next day and asked some guy at the marina what happen. He said he was a friend of his and they both had boats like that one and they could do 90-100mph , He said he just got a new prop and was testing it. Had two kids.

70 mph WTF. Way to fast on the water. Use to be a boat guy. Saw too many floating trees metal oil field whatever, sunken boats just under water etc. That would have sunk me going 40. The asses that make these fast boats just want your $. Kinda like 4 wheelers, 200's. Used to do everything you needed them to do-850's ? What, pulling oak trees out of the woods . Every year they keep getting bigger to suck in the penis envy gang . Slow down, enjoy life, don't leave your kids fatherless.

I was a passenger in a Pantera II bass boat with 200 Mercury that did 70mph on Lake Ouachita. No one around for miles and water deep and slick. Very scary.

Couldnt imagine 50+ in the river.

RIP

couldn't say it better. Not only are you putting yourself, and others, in danger when you are overcompensating for something like this, but you are bringing heat to everyone else. This is one of the main reasons Mr. Green Jeans is out there bothering everybody else.

Use some common sense.
Learn from other's mess ups. This can happen to anyone.

Y'all are underestimating the speeds of these boats.

70 mph is not really close to what a LOT of these boats will do.

For the lighter boats (like Bullet and Allison), rigged with the bigger motors (250-300 h.p.), you're looking at mid 80's to mid 90's. Some are even faster.

The boat that crashed was a Bullet. Based on a 2009 post on another board, the deceased listed the top end speed of this boat as 88 mph with two people on board and a "full load" (full live well and full gas tank).

Clearly, just because a boat is capable of going fast doesn't mean the driver will choose to go fast. And I'm not in any way suggesting that the deceased was running at full throttle.

But WAY too many boat operators want to drive at full throttle. And there are very few waterways in Louisiana where running these boats at full throttle is a good idea.

Im thinking more 70-80 range

Me too. I was on a jet ski over memorial day weekend that would get up to 65 no problem on flat water. It's pretty scary how fast some of these boats go now.

His name was Buddy Poche. He worked for Eatel and was a really good dude. Loved to hunt and fish and go fast in that boat. He left behind a couple of kids and a bunch of other family and friends that will miss him.

I think everybody needs to read that and STFU. Two babies don't have a dad today.

He was a great guy. Met him on a hunting trip to Nebraska this past season. Like Earthmover said, he loved to drive that boat fast. He has gone 102mph in it before. I know he was running it hard when this happened.
