I just stay away from the G model Curados (black handle). E model is the goat and I have a few of the newest model, have no complaints.

Lews tournament series. Just picked up a Mach 1 last week. Thing is sweet at a even sweeter price. Unfortunately only comes in 7:1:1 tho

Sorry but civiltiger07 covered it for me. Both of the Curados I have are E models.

Lew's Tournament Pro or BB1 Pro can be found online for around $150, if not a little more.

Ive always been die hard shimano. Purchased a 13 Fishing Concept A to switch things up because I didn't care a whole lot for the recent Shimano models. Have been extremely impressed and pleased with the concept A. Its a bad A little reel for the money.

Abu Garcia Ambassadeur. Bulletproof and will last forever with only replacing the worm gears every 4-5 years.

I have a new shimano citica and curado. Both are great have older e series curado and older citicas. They are great reels as well and have held up great and I saltwater fish only. Both can be found in your price range as well.

I started with an Ambassadeur, even tried some of their higher end models, but for me once I went Shimano I never looked back. I loved my Calcuttas but actually had a few problems with them along the way, though I never took much care of my stuff. But for the OP's price range, I'd definitely go Curado. I loved those too and had less problems than I did with the Calcuttas. Just depends on if you like a round reel or not.

I use a citica too and no complaints. I've caught plenty of fish, bass and saltwater, and have no issues. Good reel imo
