I've seen many water spouts offshore, from boat and helicopter

They are very 'weak' and just blow shite around

They are not as bad as they look. We have run through them before. All the hatches in the boat flew up and our chips and paper towels were sucked up, but not as strong as a tornado.

Was castnetting bait shrimp on the main hwy. in Fourchon one day.
Looked to the south and saw a spout that kept getting bigger and bigger for like 15 minutes.
Next thing I know a solid line of vehicles were hauling arse from the beach area

Motherfricker came onshore and turned into a tornado and fricked 3 kinds of shite up.
Probably stayed formed for at least 30 minutes.

Saw two about 6:15 on Sunday morning over Terrebonne Bay. And have seen many over the years, some very close. They aren't near a strong or organized as their inshore counter parts. More cool than scary to me. Still wouldn't want one to hit me though.

Seen a few of them.

Once in Grand Isle while at a friends camp.

Once in Ft. Walton Beach at our condo.

and once in Fourchon driving to my office for the spill. We all stood in the parking lot and watched it. Pretty cool shite.

Kinda...but it wasn't a waterspout, it was a legit tornado over mobile bay. We were on our way to the beach. Only time I've ever seen a tornado IRL. It was weird.

Was running in through Belle Pass with one right on the other side of the rocks. It was a pretty cool sight to see it hit land and go from a blue/green color to a brown color.

Also, was offshore and noticed the fish all coming to the top of the water in this big circle while we were over a sunken structure. My father looked up and noticed the spout was about to touch down on that spot and we took off. Apparently it does something wierd to the fish. Maybe someone else can elaborate on it.

I've seen a few offshore. There easy to stay away from. The worst part is they normally include lots of lightening and wind.

I've seen twins over Big Lake before. Scary situation no matter where you are. Especially if your boat dock is on the other side of them from where you are presently.

Guy with the camp next to us was duck hunting 2 years ago. Had one hit his blind while he was in it. He said it messed it up but didn't destroy it.

laffy weather report today:
quote:

Very moist and tropical air-mass is in place across the region and vertical wind profile is light...meaning the chances of tropical funnel clouds forming are possible. Funnel clouds are usually short lived and do not reach the ground.
