I assume you have done plenty of homework and know exactly what it is you are looking at. There is a lot of unknown that comes with a "silver lab."

AKC registered & solid bloodline are the big ones

Owned several chocolate labs throughout my life and had some experience with silvers. Is there something I don't know? I just wanted to check out some pups and maybe trigger some interest

If I'm not mistaken, anytime you're dealing with a recessive gene you can potentially have other issues.

I'm pretty ignorant on the type of dog and never really knew they were considered a recessive gene. Good to know

I don't know much about Silver Labs. Have had several Blacks and Yellows.
I really like their color, but is Silver recognized by AKC?

Ed there is guy in Plaquemine the breeds silver labs, has a pretty good operation over there. When are you planning on getting a new dog?

I've heard that silver labs almost always have major health problems

im the lab expert here just kidding.. but silver labs he recessive genese which could mean more health problems. Silver labs are not registered as silver labs, ckc does not acknowledge it as a normal color.. it will registere as a chocolate lab... which it is, except it has a recessive gene to give it the silver/charcoal color. Very beautiful dogs, but do some research before buying.. heard lots of stories about stuff down the road with them. Personally i would stick to the 3 main colors.

Theres a place in Morganza that has some, DO NOT GO THERE! Its comparable to one of those mass breeding places that has 150 dogs. Before we bought our choc in ponchatoula, we stopped there. She had atleast 50 silver labs locked in small arse kennels w about 20 other dogs roaming around the yard. Last I seen they were selling on LASM, just given ya heads up.

I have a charcoal from Acadiana silver and charcoal labs. He's a great dog with no health problems. They run a great operation.

My cousin had a silver a little over a year ago and it died from some sort of blood disorder. She was less than a year old but probably the prettiest dog I've ever seen. As others have said do your research as they tend to have some health issues.
