Anyone install LED floodlights around their house?

I have 2, the wife bought them I'm not sure what she paid for them. Unscrew one bulb put in another.

Go on amazon and buy the sunforce 60 led solar motion light, they're only like 30 bucks and are bright as shite.

I got 2 of the Ecosmart (Home Depot brand) for $20 each. 90W equivalent / daytime style.

1 old school bulb and 1 LED

I did. $24 per bulb and you just screw them in like regular bulbs.

I have not-so-subtle-brag 10 LED floodlights. They are amazing and completely change my patio and courtyard.

The brightness is obvious but other benefits are: you can have more lights on a single circuit without overloading. They also does not attract bugs which is kind of a two edged sword. They dont attract bugs so the toads, lizards, and gheckos have left. Also, now the brightest halogens are inside my house so the bugs that are flying around the house, congregate at my back door waiting for me to open it.

I have about 20 of the mini cans around the outside of the house under the eaves. I don't know how long they last, but these have pretty much been on for the last 6 months straight. I am testing to see how long they last.

I have some led flood lights too. Like others said, they are badass. Aside from a light for fishing or hunting something at night, I don't know a good reason not to have LEDs.

I have an LED light in my carport and if I keep it on, there are about a million bugs flying around it. Does it have something to do with the temperature (color) of the bulb?

I think it does depend on color but its not fool proof. Warm white LEDs attract the least amount of bugs but some bugs like warm white. June Bugs are one of them I think.

My warm white floods reduced bugs by over 80%. LEDs dont produce full spectrum (i.e. ultraviolet) and thats where they limit the species of bugs they attract. I do have a cooler white carport light but it doesnt attract much more than floods.

Your mileage may vary. What I did, was changed out two floodlights at a time. I noticed immediately during the process, one set of lights attracted bugs, one set did not (LED). You can switch out two and test it.

LEDs are super competitive now. I dont have the same floodlights because they discontinued, sold out, revised, changed, etc over the 2 year period I spent upgrading to LED.

My fixture broke on the one above my garage. The problem is that it is 2 stories up to replace it. I always hated changing the bulbs, and last time I was up there I had a pair of LED's to put in. That's when the fixture broke off. I'm eventually going to replace it. I've even bought the replacement, but I have to crawl in the attic to do the wiring, and get on a 16 foot ladder to attach it. Motion activated, and will click on when we enter the driveway. Of course right about the time I was going to replace it is when the time changed and now it is light until well past 7 so I don't really need it there.
