I have a finnlight that hasn't been taken out of the safe in years. I grabbed it the other day and the rubberized stock is sticky to the touch, almost like contact cement.

No contact info I can find online for Sako. Does anyone have an email for their customer service?

Yes. I have a Sako A7 that is so bad I let a buddy borrow it for his daughter and they wrapped it in Saran Wrap

Looks like browning had a similar issue and made good by replacing them. It doesn't seem Sako is as willing. I'd still at least like to find someone to complain to.

Owned by Beretta.

Call the Beretta HQ and see what they say.

This has been a known issue for years. Beretta will just tell you to pound sand from what I’ve heard.

Remington had an issue with the butt pads on a few and they corrected it.

In the past, it was not unusual for the rubber material on cameras to get sticky like that. There was not a solution to fix it because it was deteriorating. Sako should replace that stock.

Yeah, contacting Beretta may be my best bet. I was just hoping someone had gotten it taken care of.

That's what other forums seem to say. But, I've had really good luck with Beretta customer service. They bought back a Franchi I-12 that wasn't functioning properly and they repaired a 20ga A400 xplor that wasn't cycling light loads.

Hopefully my luck keeps up.

I thought that the rubberized stock was super nice when I bought it, it was a selling point. I kind of have the red arse that it's falling apart.

Let me know what they say so I can send mine back

It just pisses me off that you spend $1000 plus on a gun and have to buy a replacement stock for it because of poor design.

Yes. I have the A7 with the POS stock and after about year 7, it was pretty bad. Almost like the stock began to melt. I contacted Baretta and they refused any help. I ended up replacing it with a Bell and Carlson stock that I like 10 times better. It's a great shooting gun (always has been), but now I don't have to peel any leaves and various other debris off the stock after I use it.

Yeah, I think that rifle is $1500 or better. It blows my mind that they don't want to stand behind it. Especially something that's so obviously a design flaw.

I'll have to check out B&C. No idea what replacements are out there. Especially for the amount I want to spend.

Could you link the stock you bought? About to buy one soon.

I had an Xtrema that did this. No help from Beretta. I had a Benelli M2 that did the same thing. They sent me a new stock set, no questions asked.

My Finnlight had the issue and I finally got fed up with it and tried the brake cleaner route to remove the soft touch. I just did it a couple months ago and I’m pretty happy with the result. I took it slow but didn’t take all the precautions I read about like taping off the inserts and recoil pad. It’s now just a slick black stock with the same grey rubber inserts. It’s not as nice as it was new but much better than the sticky stock.

Your rubber inserts are as sensitive, if not more so, using my Xtremas as indication.

Duratouch is the issue. I can not believe they are not doing anything about it. Browning took care of mine and I would raise hell with them and inform I would be posting to every outdoors forum I could find about them not standing behind their product.

Anybody have any experience with Boyds? I've got a Tikka with the plastic stock. Nothing wrong with it, I just wanted to tinker with it since the season is over.

Google “painting a rifle stock with stone texture paint” buddy of mine did one with krylon and multiple coats of flat sealer and it came out pretty slick. I was gonna paint my daughters pink gun a while back but ended up just selling it and upgrading.
