Besides South TX people. White Wings are usually pretty rare up here. I've killed 2-3 I think in all my years of dove hunting. This year they were everywhere. I killed 4 Saturday and there were many more killed on the field. Hunted a completely different area yesterday and we killed almost half white wings. Wonder what's up with that? Maybe they are about to invade up here like the ringnecks did...

I see a few of them during the summer in NWLA, but they are gone by dove season.

Okay, I didn't want to ask in the weekend results thread, but you obviously know the difference in a white wing and a Eurasian Collared dove.

i killed 1 in west Texas out of 20 birds.

they're pretty rare, usually get about 3-7 in our group opening weekend total.

last year around 9:30 every morning they came out of town in huge groups flying pretty high. we just peppered the group and took home more than any other year.

Houston area. More mournings than usual though. In the recent past we'd kill all white wings, but mixed bag this year.

Those things come in sounding like Hillary having a coughing fit. Not as eloquent as the mourning dove...

Eta: Back to white wings, I killed my first one last year on a hunt near Wichita Falls, TX. We did very well over there last year. Going back not this weekend but next.

They can shrug off some lead like a sumbitch too. If you don't clip a wing or hit them in the head they keep on trucking

I've seen more in Bossier Parish this year than I have ever seen living up here. Even had a pair nesting in one of our live oaks. Their numbers, like the Eurasian Collared Doves, are increasing in NWLA.

It seems like in Avoyelles there are more white wings now. Where I am going in Texas this weekend that is all we will kill.

Every year me and my cousin hunt our spot where the white wings fly. He shows up with his low powered number 8, and I show up with my Remington express long range 7 1/2. Within the first 1 1/2 hour he is cursing saying this is his last year using low power. Then the next year he shows up with low powered and we do it all over again lol.

But yea very rarely do you kill a white wing dead. Even when you knock the crap out of them they still flop around on the ground for a minute. They some tough sob when shooting at them with small lead shot.

White Wings like the city life. These were probably just expanding their horizons from the metropolis of Funroe.

Interesting. I've seen them in abundance around Lake Charles. Used to watch those smart little frickers spin a gazebo feeder to knock the seed onto the ground where they could eat it.

In winnsboro, killed at least 50% white wing dove.

They don't die like the mourning doves.

Was weird. First time I've ever shot them and that is predominately what we saw.

plenty around Bunkie. They circle the field in large flocks, usually flying high. Next thing you know, they are trying to light on top of you. They make a nice thump when they hit the ground

I have seen a couple of Collards around Delhi, in town not in the country. They hang with the only White-wing I have seen here.
