Not looking for your honey hole, unless you’re into that sorta thing.

More or less pros and cons of it, as it’s close to where I live now and I may archery hunt on it this deer season.

They call it the Jungle. It's thick thick. I've squirrel hunted there a good bit, had some good hunts there.

Learn how to shoot through palmettos or you’ll never release an arrow there.

That’s the scouting report I’ve gotten. Have you hunted Tensas? I’ve had good hunts in the thick thick in there. Lots of palmetto.

Watch out for the Fruge fellow. He’ll move in on you.

I assumed that. Pretty typical of any wma in Louisiana, I’m aight with snakes. I just hate mosquitoes and horseflies. Particularly horseflies.

I’ve never hunted it but I’ve heard it’s thick with palmettos like others have said. I did talk to someone that hunts it though and he said he tags out pretty much every year out there. From what he was saying, there’s plenty deer there.

That’s encouraging. The palmetto can be challenging, and sometimes I sound like a drunk grizzly crashing through it, but I’m used to it where I’ve hunted my whole life.

I’ve hunted leases in that area all my life. I love hunting in palmettos and feel like I’m hunting in the desert hunting in other places that are open bottom land. With that said there’s too many wma’s in this state to fight the ville platians and locals on that fairly small wma. It’s way to close and accessible to I 49 and stays flooded with people.

Thick isn’t the word for thistlewaite. They logged probably 40% of the WMA.. some of the area a human can’t access. Cut a trail and every hunter is using it.

Also look out for small copper heads in the palmettos. Yes I have seen some in the palmettos about 2-3 feet above the ground.

I grew up 15 minutes from Buckhorn. I’ve hunted in that area plenty.

I don't think I've ever seen it so flooded that you can't find somewhere to hunt.

At least not during bow season.

Of course, I don't really hunt weekends much, either. Not for anything other than ducks, anyway.

Plenty of deer on the WMA and surrounding private lands.

I’m less than a mile from it and we’ve seen deer on our property numerous times.

Lots of big deer in this area.

Good report, LC.

Thanks all for the info. I’ll go scout and as always, the arrows will probably fly.
