Not worth that price for you project IMO the Ruger can be slicked up and trigger can be replaced for reasonably cost.. its not the a great platform for what you aim to do. if its a paddle 77, it needs to be minty for 850$ (300 WM ) I almost bought one years ago I found rifle front...

CajunS if you have to worry about the reticle kicking in your eye ? you may only need to get a better scope . older eyes need more eye relief .. the only rifle scope i get close is on an AR varmint rifle that i can watch the impact on target. get a quality 3-9 x 50. I deer hunt with 6.5 CM ,.30...

oh that 6.5 rabbit hole! Being old and old school ..the 6.5 is a true riflemans round..shot placement . the old 06 with 180 g corlock at 100yd doe was money! JUST HIT IT . But same round on a 200plus pound rutting buck needs a good shot to anchor. 6.5 will often have sparse blood trails.thats pa...

now that you have found your rifle be sure the scope was mounted properly and fits you eye .. buy some cheap match ammo . Now go to a range and if you cant shoot 5 shots at 50 yds into a small group...then check scope,mounts .. That rifle should shoot .. also use a sled of some type to shoot....

I don't recommend AKC knives .... I have a OTF which has broken and i cant get info from Italy ..and GrindX wont help after 90 days I have mostly autos ..AKC was over $100 and broke :banghead:...
