How cheap could I get a basic table saw for? And would you recommend a pawn shop?

Could get a low end one for around $100-$150 new. Good name for double that. If you found a decent one not too beat up at pawn shop I don't see a problem with getting from there

I wouldn't be able to tell whether or not a table saw is in good condition or not; would you just recommend going new for $100-$150?

If you are planning on just buying a cheap tablesaw you will be just as well off with a good straight edge guide and a circular saw in a lot of cases.

What are you planning on cutting?

There are a bunch of woodworking channels on youtube w/ basic woodworking plans/instructional videos. Just looking to get started trying to make basic stuff

Would this be overkill: LINK

I have a ryobi table saw and it has been a good little table saw. I think it cost about 120.00

If i had to do it over again I would have spent a little more and gotten a Rigid

Do you have other woodworking tools?

I use a cheap Black & Decker from Home Depot for rough cutting wood, then use a router table for most finished edges.
Throw out the stock blade and buy a blade with carbide teeth.

Nada. It seems like from the videos I've watched the table saw would be the biggest initial investment

Mitersaw / Table saw / circular saw / jig saw .. would all be good to have.

I would also like a planner and router to add to my wood working list. You can do alot with a table saw but you will have to build a lot of jigs to do it.

A decent circular saw and drill/driver would both be much more versatile and effective tools to build around.

Like someone else said get a circular saw, it'll save you a ton of money, it's mobile and you can do anything a table saw will do, plus a whole lot more.

What type of projects, table saw is good for ripping wood but other tools might be a better first choice for your projects.

Router/table and bench plane have changed the game for me. Quality of work and finish have dramatically improved

Most of my stuff comes from Harbor Freight. But I do not make "fancy" stuff. I usually make furniture and other items out of reclaimed wood. (pallets, old fenceboards, etc)

I have a table saw, sliding miter saw, air compressor, brad nail gun, cordless impact driver from HF. All working fine for what I do. I have a Dewalt rotary sander that is the tits.
