Yea.

I could have agreed with alx

It's probably for the best. He may have been too ashamed to ever come back.

A .243 is a great round for some one learning the mechanics of shooting with more realistic recoil than a .22lr. It does possess the necessary energy to kill a whitetail inside it's designed range. Maybe I'm just not a stone cold killer who regardless of whether it is a doe or wall hanger, but I get some what of a feeling of nervousness and excitement when I know about to harvest an deer. (Could careless about a hog or coyote personally).

With all that said, I don't like them for an inexperienced hunter such as a kid. To me a 7mm-08 is a better gun for someone (like a kid) who isn't as experienced and nerves could come into play. If I shoot a big buck with a double lung shot using my .243 I feel less confident I'm going to find sufficient blood to trail the animal.

The exit hole is at about 1 o clock a few inches outside of that big light circle on the deer. There's a leaf on the leg. Not sure where the hell you got leg shot from.

This thread is amazing. Started with someone killing a nice buck with a .243. Then it got into a "adequate deer caliber" pissing contest. Then a headshot debate. Now, we are just calling people assholes. I love tigerdroppongs!

Let's debate something else. My PowPow and great uncle and pretty much everyone of that generation around here killed more deer with .22 LR than most of us could fathom. How's the OB feel about that?

I had a friend in highschool that swore he was a ninja and that he could kill a deer with a slingshot.

Every time I gave him the invite he had something else to do.

I have my suspicions that Q-beams were involved with the 22's. Most people I know in that generation were using 30-30s or shotguns.

Probably so.

But uphill both ways, in the snow.

I prefer my homemade spear. Haven't tried a headshot though
