I had mud tires (pro comp x-terrain that I will admit didnt perform all that well) all through college. Cousin and friends all had BFG AT's. They could go anywhere I needed to go. I never put mud tires on a vehicle again. Too much road noise, cabin rattles, tire wear, and cost. Except for a select few, you are very much overestimating your time off road compared to road if you think its 10%. If you had a camp jeep or something that strictly saw offroad, then mud tires. Otherwise, its not that necessary usually.

Agreed on the KM2's. That's what I have now because they came with the jeep but I wouldn't buy them again. They ride well on the highway though.

Those tires work better if you run them backwards, but it doesn't help that they're hard and the tread depth isn't very much

I have these, about 10K miles on mine so far, still a ton of tread left.

The answer to your question is, 'what type surfaces will you be driving on majority of the time'.

I currently run toyo AT 2 on my HD. Great tire...would recommend...
My next set of tires will be more of a mud tread. Why? I drive a lot on rock roads and the current AT2 hold rocks in the treads. This throws my tire balance off causing the tires to scallop. The mud tread I chose will be open to prevent/limit the amount of rocks held between treads

I'm in the market for tires as well. I'm seriously considering the Goodyear Duratracs. A buddy just put on some BFG AT KO2 and likes them. The tread is pretty soft. In fact, he says that if his truck sits for a couple of days, then a flat spot forms on the tire. It rounds out in about a mile but still.

9/32-16's on the 3/4 ton.

The skid depth is almost an inch on them. They're awesome but you leave a trail of quarters behind you everywhere you go and it sounds like you're riding in a prop plane. Rides like a bulldozer.

Don't care. Them bastards pull much better than I thought they would. It's very hard to spin them in 4wd.

Cooper ST MAXX

I just put these on my 4 door Rubicon. I had the factory BFG Mud Terrains and put 40k on them, likely could have made it to 50k but the ride was starring to get rough. I like the Coopers. I actually was looking for the Cooper STT but could not get them at any of the local shops so I went with the ST Maxx. They are quiet. I can actually use the bluetooth in my Jeep again and they seem to get good traction in the little bit of use I had so far. I only needed sufficient traction when hunting as well as getting in and out of places with my kayak.

BFG AT,s for light mud. I usually get around 55-60k miles out of them.

Old school BFG KM (not KM2) are awesome mud tires and wear pretty good and are not loud if rotated. I have about 12k on mine and they still look like new and are quiet.

I will never own another set of mud tires.

I have dick cepek fun country 2s on right now, they weren't really the AT tires I wanted, but I came across a deal i couldn't pass up, but i have been completely satisfied with them.

Next tires i get will be either Mickey thompson ATZ's or the new BFG AT's that came out recently.

Welcome to the world of Swampers

I had a set of SSRs on my old Tacoma. Loud as frick, but amazing in the mud. It's fun throwing baseball sized clumps of mud everywhere. I couldn't talk on my phone on the interstate

Those are short tires for that truck. Didn't you used to have 35s?

I don't have that big green truck anymore. Sold it and bought a 04 3/4 ton 4x4

The 32's are pretty much maxing out the front at stock height.

I wanted SSR's but they didn't have 10 ply in the size I wanted. The 10's were too wide for the factory rims.

I've got 285/75s on my stock chrome rims. IIRC, those are something like 33x11. I wish I could roll with a 12.5" wide tire, but am not trying to squeeze that on the skinny rims

I think the stock rims are only 6.5" wide. You can get away with up to about 11.5" wide with radials but bias ply tires would die a very early death.

I just put a set of 18x9 fuel revolvers with Nitto Terra grappler G2's 285/75R18 (35"x11.50") on my F-250. Makes the truck look great and they have decent tread.

I was looking for a job the other day, and thought I'd show you this. It's one of my uncle's business partners, but you'd be based out of Ft. Lauderdale and have to go all over the world to work on shite. I'm trying to get a job with him right now doing service and repair on steam, turbine, gas, and diesel engines for generators and compressors. I'm not trying to leave Louisiana though. I mean, I really like how Mexican chicks have bubble butts, but I wanna be close to the swamp
