That's a gator trout right there.

Is it just me or does that guy look like Ted Cruz and Mike Huckabee's love child?

If he held it any closer to the camera, it wouldn't be able to focus

Why do people wade fish over that way? can you not get a boat in there?

Hate to say it, but wade fishing in BL was for the most part brought on by Texas guides that started fishing the lake. Much stealthier than boat fishing. Makes it easier to sneak up on trout. Particularly the older smarter trout like that one.

It's how Texians fish. Now that I have been here almost 20 years, I prefer wading this time of year for big trout. The Texians brought wading to Big Lake.

Going to wade big lake all weekend.

They say trolling motor or even hull slap will scare off the bigger, smarter fish so wading is a stealthier approach. And you can also cover an area much better than you would in a boat

Nice fish. Yup, that's how they do it in Texas. I fished with a guide out of Port Mansfield a few years back. Cruised the bay in a beautiful 21 foot boat and jumped in the water to fish.

Yes, bull sharks.

Nice fish. So, what was the weight?

Wade fishing is very popular in Texas for monster trout.
