Zachary, De Soto, Iberville. Those I know off the top of my head.
you are saying that teachers salary start at $50k in these parishes?
because I, in no way, believe that
In the 14-15 school year teachers with zero experience starting at Zachary made 46.7k. I'm not sure about the stipends that guy is speaking of though.

depends on how much I have to do
some days I don't take a lunch and other I don't come back after lunch
I also carry a cell phone and laptop with me everywhere I go including vacation. My job requires me to be available at all times.
You're acting like teachers don't take work home with them. I bet teachers work more after hours than you do.
Be honest, how often are you at the office until 8? And what's the ratio of lunches skipped to afternoons taken off?

Most people with non-teachers job get two weeks paid vacation with 7 to 8 days in paid holidays. I don't consider sick days because teachers have those as well.
Plus teachers get far more abnormal days off that more than compensate for those 2 weeks of leave.
"Sorry boss, snow day"
"Sorry boss, AC shite out in the school can't come in"
"Sorry boss, Columbus day is important"

How often do they get a phone call at 6 am on a Sunday and have to go to the office to 8 hrs?

not even in the same ballpark as me
and if I'm getting to the office at 8 that means I'm running late

Most people don't have work to do when they get home either. If you think teaching is such easy money, why aren't you doing it?
da fuq? Have you ever been a professional outside of the classroom?
Granted, it may not be "grading papers" but it's other work that is outside the workplace that requires attention and some of it even moreso than teachers.

Teachers get to work at 8? And why did you not answer my question about how often you put in all this extra work you claim?

Yea, I'm a teacher. You caught me.

Zachary is falling. Too much variation in curriculum from year to year. I was basing my statement off of 2012 and from memory.
I'm using stipend to describe any bonuses or payment not a part of the base pay. They can be earned for having student teachers, speaking at conferences, and paid professional developments. Obviously, there is variation from district to district, and some teachers do the absolute minimum.
An extra 2-5k is available with minimal additional work. In the private sector, you would be doing most of them anyways.

EBR pays 44k starting out. I have been there for 4 years now and I just got to 47 because I have a masters. I know huge benefit of getting a masters. I also have a second job after school to pay for vacations and other stuff during the year. Teaching isn't a bad gig if you can manage your workload during the school year but that's any job.

In the very loosest sense of the word. I work just as hard an any of you that post here all day, and have a company phone that I also answer whatever hour of the day it is. Not sitting at a desk doing nothing all day like you're trying to imply.
ETA: Fun fact, my salary also doesn't come from tax dollars of any kind.

Nothing wrong with being a teacher, but many teachers act as though they work more hours or have it harder than your average professional.
That's just not true.

I don't know what time teachers get to work, I know I'm usually here by 7

because it was a dumb question, I don't keep a spreadsheet

Many people also greatly exaggerate the amount of complaining from teachers then also greatly exaggerate the amount of extra work they do compared to teachers.

Not to mention that teachers don't get to frick around on the OT all day like many people that "work a full year" do
Anddd end thread.

just judging from my FB
no other profession posts memes or eCards concerning their profession more than teachers...and its not even close
