I've read the whole thread. It's the non-teachers who are doing most of the crying.
Yeah I've read it now and I agree. My original point remains though. Some of the teachers in this thread know they have a good gig, hence the lack of complaints.

and that they didn't know all of this going into it.
That's what bothers me the most. They all knew how bratty kids are and how low the pay is.
They bitch about having to do extra work outside of class. Kind of funny how the people who assign homework are the same ones that bitch when they have to do it themselves.

I sure hope this is just an attempt to be funny instead of a legit comparison.

Count me as one of them. I've worked outside of education in sales. I made more Money but had less time for family friends and fun. I've got a good job and make decent money. I pick up my kid from school everyday. Life is good.
Are there times and situations that suck about the job, of course. Would I like even more vacation? Who wouldn't?

Hey guys I just spent 300 out of my own pocket for your kids, I expect everyone to vote on a salary increase for teachers.

Grading doesn't take that much time if you know your craft.
I respect teachers but I do question how efficient they are now. I feel like the education requirements to certify teachers today needs to change.
The whole education major needs to be overhauled. Ill gladly take a physics or biology major who passed the praxis over an education major

Aww what's wrong? That two weeks you get from the Tyson plant not enough?

I'd say most people get a month or month and a half of time off
No way most people get 4-6 weeks.
I can technically take off whatever I want. But I don't, because my schedule doesn't allow it. That's how it is for a lot of professionals I know, where "vacation days" don't really have any meaning.
So with vacation, sick time, and holidays, you think most professionals don't get a month off?

I get 7-9 weeks of vacation and 3-4 weeks of sick leave.
Not a teacher. Though, at a college.

I feel sorry for your employer if you can't figure out I'm not a teacher.

I couldn't agree with you more. Education degrees are watered down. Some of the dumbest, laziest, and bitching teachers I work with are clueless education majors. Teachers need to be experts in their content. I got a B.A. an M.A. In History and I know my stuff like the back of my hand. I teach AP European History and U.S. History at two different schools. My students kill it during testing.

I pay way more than that in taxes to fund your salary and my kids go to private school so cry me a fricking river.

This will go overlooked in this thread but this post is legit.
