You're only disarming people that follow rules.

This is what the OP should have figured out on his/her own!

Among the population that is infamous for having them in their possession? Absolutely.

As it is, I don't perceive 'cops' are trigger happy in the least. I have ZERO fear of the police and especially of them shooting me. Maybe it is because I can follow instructions.

Hey, let's outlaw murder, then there wouldn't be anymore murders. It's brilliant.

Absolutely. There would be no background check. No paperwork to fill out. No registration. No waiting period. The "black market" isn't in Siberia Russia. It's down on the street corner a couple of blocks from your home. All you need is cash.

Not really. The guns have to come from somewhere. The origins had to be legal before they were illegal. I don't think manufacturers have complete black market processes in the US.

So what does it mean if the gun was legally sold from a distributer to a buyer, and later the gun was stolen prior to sale on the black market?

That's a possible scenario.

Regardless, even if all guns were outlawed tomorrow there would still be plenty of guns on the black market.

This is true. It would be a long time and a lot of work reversing what is already done if it is even possible. Assuming it needs to be done in the first place, which I'm not convinced. It's worth thinking about though.

Criminals would still have guns and the problem would still exist.

Australia saw a 69% increase in violent crimes after their ban, and a 7% decrease in gun murders ({after banning 100% of handguns).

Britain's murder rates went up for a few years before leveling off to what they were before their gun ban, and their violent crimes went way up.

And they don't have nearly the thugs we do. If you want to see the US balkanized and thrown into civil war, by all means, ban guns.

Of course not. Pot's illegal and look how hard it is to buy that.

That's like saying drugs are illegal so cops don't expect drugs when searching certain people.

Cops would be a whole lot less triggerhappy if the majority were disarmed.

Because the majority of criminals obey the gun laws we already have and are all licensed gun carrying individuals, correct?

You really are a special kind of stupid, aren't you?

Drugs are illegal... So obviously nobody uses drugs right? There is no way to buy drugs right?

Why do some idiots believe that it would be any different with guns?
