I went to go see the movie Barcelona in Boulder, Colorado. Midway through the film, a young guy one row in front of me stands up, grabs his chest and he falls over. His friends scream. We run out of the theatre to get a manager to call an ambulance.

Turns out the guy was a 22 year old competitive off-road cyclist and he had a heart defect. He died right there in front of us.

I never could bring myself to watch the second half of that film.

I'd say those that decided to see Batman in Aurora, Colorado had the worst movie theatre experience.
The GI's in Saigon might disagree with that statement.

This probably needs to be posted in here.

Thread winner.

My worst experience was probably going to see Erin Brokovich in the Gautier, MS, movie theater in the mall. A bunch of ignorant-arse fricks were walking into the movie and carrying on about how they weren't sure if they wanted to sit through this movie or Rules Of Engagement next door.

Next-worst experience, apart from working at a theater during Star Wars - Episode One, was probably the time that the bulb in the projector died in mid-screening of Analyze This at Tinseltown on Mall Drive, ending the show.

I saw the Ring 2 in Nashville. My friends and I were the only people in the theater who were not members of a certain stereotyped movie-going demographic. Needless to say, it was like watching a movie at a sporting event with cheering, yelling, and even a play-by-play.
After about 30 minutes, I quit trying to follow the movie and just resigned to the noise of the crowd.

Whent to see "21 Jump Street" by myself in Jersey City, New Jersey. Right as the previews were starting I spilt an entire large coca-cola on my lap (wearing khakis) and a bunch of latino high school girls laughed at me. Stayed for the entire movie. It was rough.

parents dropped me off at the theater when I was 14 or 15ish with some friends. dont remember what we planned on seeing but our top 3 choices were sold out. The only other option that would end at the time they were picking us up was Tupac:Resurrection. Four white kids didn't really fit in.

X-Men The Last Stand / Old Tinseltown off of Siegen

It was the midnight release that made me stop going to midnight releases. The movie was not as bad as I remember but the combination of smelly people, annoying nerds, uncomfortable seating, being there for about 4 hours.

It made what was rather an okay movie just seem awful. Upon seeing it again years later, it wasn't as bad as I remember or as bad as most make it out to be.

Maybe not the worst, but when I saw The Campaign in 2012, one guy in the theater had a laugh that was just so over the top that I had to record it. Captured it a few times and posted it here: LINK

I remember when I went to see The Waterboy there was a funny scene where everyone in the theater laughed, as the laughing died down there was a woman who was late to the joke then let out an embarrassingly loud laugh.

Everyone then laughed at her.

That laugh is cracking me up since I didn't have to be there.

Blueboy's ENGAGE ENGAGE was pretty good too.

Saw Titanic at the Bon Marche cinema 11 (or was it 15?). This was a year or so before it closed down and the mall folded, so as you can imagine it was a tad sketchy.

Anyway, there was one other couple in the theater, about 10 rows behind us. At some point during the show, someone came into the theater. We could hear some idle, low chatter and finally someone walked out. About 30 seconds later the guy and girl shouted, "we just got robbed!".

They claimed the guy had a revolver. We left, along with that couple (for obvious reasons) but we had to basically demand free passes from the manager and he didn't want to call the cops.

It was another 5 years before I finished Titanic. In many ways, I think that criminal did us a favor, but at the time it was pretty scary.

Where do I start...

Watching 300 last week, had to tell the black guys behind me to shut up after they shouted through the fight scenes like they were watching wrestling ("Dayum! Cut that mothuhfuhkuh! BOOM!).

Watching Elysium, they had to stop the movie to bring in a stretcher for an elderly man who'd had a seizure of some kind (coincidentally during a movie about healthcare).

Midnight movie... Black frat stands up, moves to the aisle, and does a choreographed stomp as Superman Returns starts on the screen.

Watching Despicable Me 2, the kid behind us had seen the movie already and announced everything before it would happen.

My favorite... Watching The Master of Disguise with my kid. Brent Spiner's character says, "What do I look like? An idiot?" The black woman behind me screams, "You look like Data from Star Trek!"

Went to see King Kong with college roommate. At the point when he fell off the building, a tiny 100-year old Jewish man in a wheelchair (who was sitting directly in front of) loudly said "That's a lot of beef!!!" We proceeded to bust out laughing at the most dramatic scene and probably ended up messing up the movie for some other moviegoers!
