Speaking of Birmingham, it’s mine as well.
Checked in a local hotel for a potential engineering redesign of the electrical system at ghetto-assed Legion Field.
Bad storms had been rolling through, and Birmingham is a haven for tornadoes. 4x in the middle of the night, tornado sirens erupted. I walked outside my room, gazed across the parking lot and noticed the warning sirens mounted on a poll about 50’ from me.
Got zero sleep that night:

I wanted to stay at the Waldorf Astoria in NYC, but they're closed for renovations and I had to stay at the Four Seasons.

Stayed at the IP casino in Biloxi once and lightning hit something. Was in the elevator when it happened heading to about the 25th floor. Generator kicked in but elevators were programmed to descend to first floor at a very slow speed and let us off. I gladly took the stairs...one of the scariest experiences.

Between that and the Shed Dran motel, I've always wondered if anybody other than pimps and their hoes used them.

How about bad experiences in what are supposed to be nice hotels....
Stayed at the cook hotel and the A/C was out... in damn near summer... was miserable and only got about $20 taken off the total.
Also, stayed in a nice hotel in Galveston and room was infested with roaches...killed about 3 of them before going downstairs to complain... received no discount of even apology.
I expect shite like that to happen at crap motels, and don't even bring it up when it does...but not at places I actually pay good money for.

Stayed downtown Nola *cue the I deserve it* a woman and man on honeymoon are having a fight. She claims he cheated on her. He then supposedly threw her into the elevator or something. Heard all of this from my room. Hours of cops outside the room. No sleep

Had a lady walk in on me and the wife doing it. The hotel gave her a key and checked her into our room.
BR Hampton Inn had housekeeping walk in on me in the middle of rolling over and lining up for re-entry on the GF of the time. She knocked and said “housekeeping” and we said “no thanks. Were ok”. Guess she wasn’t listening.
She got an eyeful. Then I did some Matrix-like sideways jump back into the bed (I was standing on floor at the end) and under the covers.

With the military we stayed at the Tower Hotel on the West bank after Katrina. Its now the holiday inn and is pretty nice.
However, there were still windows boarded up in occupied rooms. Most rooms were missing items like TVs, shower curtains, etc.
When I checked in, I pretty much thought I walked in on a robbery. Dude behind the counter in ghetto arse clothes. No one at the hotel had uniforms or any identifying features.
My room was missing the shower curtain and TV. Our MSgt found a bag of weed in his toilet and another found needles and baggies.
The elevator sounded like it was going to die and there was a one legged drunk dude riding it up and down.
I slept on the floor because the bed looked disgusting.
Holiday Inn bought it and made it really nice.

You walk to the room and it's open at all times, but you can lock it from the inside. It's disgusting. The only thing on the tv is a porn playing from the front desk
Dude, its a weird interest of mine how the frick that place stays open, and who exactly stays there..

took either a Key club or Mu Alpha Theta convention trip in HS to Biloxi during the same weekend as Black Spring Break 2000
I had never seen Porno being played (and blared loudly) on TVs in the headrests in a car until that weekend.

Checked into a new hotel that hadn't been open long.
Opened bathroom door and the toiled wasn't put together. It was in like three pieces.
I called downstairs and the front desk was like "is it cracked?" Ummmm, no. It's not put together. They finally sent up a maintenance guy and he started laughing and was like "I cannot believe they did this"

Easy. I was working 6-12s in S. Carolina on night shift. Only had 1 hotel within 45 miles of the plant. This wasn’t a shutdown, and didn’t know how long I was going to be there, so didn’t want to sign a lease to rent a house like I usually would have.
Room next to mine was being renovated. They wouldn’t change rooms, and wouldn’t stop construction. I’m not much of a drinker, but had to get sleep, so would take shots.
I paid weekly, and thought I was on my last night, so went to the night manager when I got off and told them I’d pay in the morning because I thought it was my last night and didn’t want to pay the weekly rate again. She said it was fine. At noon the hotel owner came banging on my door telling me I needed to pay or get kicked out (I had until the end of the day to pay). I told him the situation and I thought all was good. Went back to sleep and he came banging again telling me I needed to pay or he was calling the cops. I packed my shite and left. Slept for 3 hrs in plant parking lot.
That night I told my manager the situation and that I was leaving because I wasn’t staying there anymore. Luckily, I got cut that night and drove 12 hrs home.
It was the Deluxe Inn in York, SC. It wasn’t deluxe and frick that guy.

On my Honeymoon, we were pulled aside and “randomly selected” to have an upgrade for our first night. We were really excited but got to the room and the bed was dirty, stains all over the furniture, the A/C was out making the room sweat and mildew. What actually happened was they messed up the booking and our room still had people staying in it. They wouldn’t let us into our original room until the next night. Got put in a complete dump for the first night of our honeymoon and they tried to disguise it as an upgrade. Moral of the story is if it sounds too good to be true... it is.

And the only thing that leads you to stay a night in the Staring Motel, is a plethora of bad decisions strug together... that's all I'll say

Worst was a literal concrete matress in China. Hard to top that.

Stayed at the Four Seasons in Wailea and decided to extend my trip a few days. Booked a room at The Ritz in Kapalua. The drive was entirely too long to get there. Like, an hour or so.
