it was my fault, fyi.
I was just sharing my experience.
I've stayed in a few places on Tulane Ave that were just as bad.... also one in Panama City that was pretty rough

I was staying at Flint Michigan last year at a newer Best Western and the room beside me people were smoking a bunch of dope. It smelled real strong in our room. The hallway wreaked also. We made a complaint to the front desk but they couldn't tell where it was from. Well, at 3 in the morning we woke up to the strong smell again and made a call to the front desk. Then we heard a bunch of ruckus right next to our room and we didn't hear smell the smell again. I think they got kicked out. Needless to say we got 20000 points on a Best Western rewards card which paid for a room for a different day

i was a hotel executive for 15 years
1) standing in a banquet room during lunch service, talking to the client, i hear someone in the back screaming "DONT EAT THE SORBET!!!" turns out it was one of the waiters. i go look back in the hallway and the queens upon which the little sorbet dishes are stacked are covered in roaches...covered. unfortunately about 1/3 of the room had been served. we got sued and i had to testify in court
2) housekeeping was a laugh riot. we had a tight turn one sunday so we all had to go help turn/clean rooms. i go up to a high floor, open the door to a room, and theres about 6 housekeepers in there, with one gal "doing hair" for the others in the bathroom sink. evidently she was quite the entrepreneur.
3) NFL teams stayed there periodically. last game of the season the panthers check in. i meet john fox in his room/office and he gives me wake-up call instructions for sunday morning. back then the PBX operators had to manually call each room one by one. i give them the instructions for a 6AM call and go home. fricking operator "overslept" IN HER OFFICE and didnt make the calls. john fox calls me at home at about 8AM sunday of the game saying i intentionally sabotaged the panthers (they won anyway) and tried to have me fired
4) some due jumped off the 27th floor down thru the atrium into the shallow pool of water/fountain in the lobby. i was manager on duty. it was pretty bad

We checked into a hotel for the '09 Georgia game. There were 4 of us staying in a room with 2 beds. We walked in, pulled back the comforter, saw bugs, and walked out. Told the front desk that we weren't staying there and why and he said it would be no problem. A couple weeks later, we see a room charge on the credit card. We call them up, and they claim that we trashed the hotel room, saying there were drugs, alcohol, etc. all over the room and shite was torn up.
After a month of back and forth, the dude finally admitted he was full of shite and they reimbursed us, but what a pain in the arse.

I checked into a hotel, the computer system was down, they gave me a key and a room anyway. When I walked in there were two whales doing it in bed with the lights on and no covers.
It was traumatic.

Stayed in the La Posada Hotel in Laredo a few times and circa 2009 walked out to get my car one morning and the local cops had police tape surrounding the front entrance and a severed head was sitting on the asphalt looking a bit worse for wear.
That was so common that no one even was very shocked by it. I couldn't get my car until the cops left so I walked about 2 blocks to eat breakfast and the police had tape at another building where the guys two arms were.
Never saw the legs.

crack heads, hookers, and drug dealers. It's cash only and no set amount from what I remember. They tell you the room number but you don't get a key. You walk to the room and it's open at all times, but you can lock it from the inside. It's disgusting. The only thing on the tv is a porn playing from the front desk
It's called a "hot pillow joint" and you pay by the hour.

Auburn, Alabama for a game, typical college like 4-6 people in a room type of trip. One of the rooms had blood stained sheets on both the beds down to the mattress.
Everyone slept on the floor.
Nastiest place I’ve ever been in, plus it was like 500 a night

Electric shower head heater with exposed cord.
i went to adjust the angle of the stream. The piping came off of the wall coupling and I caught it from falling on me. Freezing water combined with a strong zap from hand to toes. (think tom and jerry)

Did a month travel to Europe with some friends after college.
Bought the Euro RailPass to see as much as possible. Would normally take night trains to sleep and not pay for a room.
Ended up in Ljubljana, Slovenia late one night and went to party.
Ended up leaving with some Slovenian female, she had a room for the night.
Broad takes me to a 10 story concrete building in the middle of nowhere...elevator has no door, you see every floor on the way up, barely any lights, almost pitch black and dogs. Dogs barking fricking everywhere.
'This is it, I had a good run! Wtf?'
We get to her 'room'...it's a mattress on the floor, no sheets, no furniture, hell I don't think the room even had a door on it.
Still made secks and left.
The following 12 hours after this stupid idea is even better.
