The whole "one gram of protein" per body weight is way overrated. I've read studies that say 1/2 gram per pound is adequate and more than that will not build muscle any faster or better.

I agree. I think the one gram per kg of bodyweight (2.2 lbs) is a better guideline.

your body is not going to use all of that protein. unless you have a fast metabolism, your body is taking that extra protein and storing it as fat

Should also be noted that those guidelines are for each measure of lean body mass.

If you are 230lbs with 25pct body fat, you don't need 230 grams of protein

I try to get bw 160-200.....I weigh about 210

I'm doing Intermittent fasting (LeanGains), so I have to do it in an 8 hour window too.

My first meal is post workout and its 2 scoops whey (50g) and then usually another 50 with my actual food for that meal

I few hours later I usually eat another 25-50 with snack, tuna, yogurt, cottage cheese..... sometimes another scoop of whey(although I prefer to hit my macros with real food)

Then my last meal is another 50..

This guy knows what he's talking about. I still average around 200g/day even though I'm sure some of the protein is being passed out

That seems overkill for your size.....Your liver is prolly pissed!

I can't imagine you needing anymore than 175 at most....Unless you are bulking and just get all the extra protein in your calorie surplus

Doesn't the average person only use around 25-30g protein per hour? 60g post workout is pointless unless you're a really big guy from what I gather...

i agree it is overkill. Im not "trying" to get that much but i love eating meat and by the time i eat my turkey and chicken, add my post workout shake, and snack on a quest bar it hits fast!
