Crane flies don't actually eat mosquitos, dragonflies do.
It was my experience growing up in Texas that crane flies were called mosquito hawks. But my dad, born and raised in Louisiana, always told me dragonflies were mosquito hawks.
Given the dietary differences between the two, I've stopped calling crane flies mosquito hawks.

I've been in northern Idaho all week and the two that bothered me the most were grill/barbecue and cabinet/cupboard

When something turns over it tumps. I don't even think this is a word anywhere but the south.

In Wisconsin, they call a water fountain a "bubbler."
I've tried to tell them that a "bubbler" is a small water bong, but they don't listen to me for some reason.

In Pennsyvania some friends of ours would say they "banged off" when they farted. Weird.

ice box
In my house, we had a top/bottom refrigerator and a freezer. At my grandmother's, I was once told to "get something out of the ice box" which was a side by side with a water/ice dispenser. I knew the one on the left had ice in it. I was ridiculed for looking in there when I was told to look in the "ice box," though I was staring down a full box of ice.
I was also like six years old at the time of the story, so I have a mental block on using the word "ice box" because of that traumatizing experience. And how it's kind of stupid to use in today's world, despite its origins making perfect sense.

Toboggan is solid and flat where as a sled has runners.... Right?
And yes tump is only a word down here
Fun fact my dad's nickname for a clitoris was guinea horn. (Guinea as in the chicken like bird)

Well in the south people tend to say they are going sledding, never heard a southerner say let's go tobogganing like the Yankees do

To most southerners a toboggan is warm hat.

In middle and north Ga we call a certain common fish a "crappie."
In south Ga and Fl they call the same fish a "spec." Short for speckled perch.
In north ga we say chain pickerel for those feisty sharp tooth skinny fish. South ga and fl calls the same fish a "jack fish."
