They didn't cause the land loss, but they did accelerate it and make it more painful.

Cutting shipping channels didn't help though. It allowed salt water to creep in and hurt vegetation.

It really is amazing. I really don't understand some of the hate. New Orleans isn't for everyone but you can't deny it's greatness. Sure it's got it's problems but we wouldn't have people flocking here to visit and live if it wasn't for all the great things.

I also think some of it is because New Orleanians are proud people(which most south LA people are). They want you to come here experience our culture and have a good time. If you love us we will love you back and if you hate us well go frick yourself.

You poor thing....Living in a dump that rests on a sinking mound of sewage-saturated river silt must have made you bitter.

It's okay. I can understand how hard that must be, and I hope that you can find your way out of there one day.

Wasn't some of those inlets initially created by the logging industry? The salt water intrusion flows up the channels and kills the vegetation.

Louisiana has a long way to go as far as repairing and restoring it's coast.

No one from overseas (or most of this country) puts Mississippi or Alabama on their places to go list.

Louisiana would be in the same boat without New Orleans.

Why this upsets anybody in either direction is ridiculous. Its just objective fact.

New Orleans gets its water from the Mississippi River, not from underground. What pumping are you talking about?

Industry pumps a shite load of water, much more than the municipal water supply

More important question:
Will it be "trashy"?

O&G has admitted that they were a major contributor to coastal erosion. I don't see how anyone could see otherwise
