You should get an Alaskan Klee Kai. Beautiful and fun like huskies but small enough to have in an apartment and carry around with you:

I saw one of those going into Petmart a couple of weeks ago. I scooped up my little puppy as soon as I saw that thing.

Those are Satan in dog form.

Yeah, PWDs were bred to work Portuguese fishing boats. They would swim out and set the nets and then bring them back in - fantastic swimmers.

We can't keep ours out of the pool.

Our's isn't crazy at all - he's a big lazy cuddlebug.

Our lab/german shepherd mix is a rescue but I love the PWD breed so much that I will always have one and a rescue.

Our crazy dog it the lab/GS mix. Looks 100% lab but her personality is all GS. And she's neurotic as shite. She thinks anyone outside of "her people" are a threat. She howls at them and then runs and hides under furniture when they get too close.

She is the definition of all bark and no bite. But I love her crazy arse.

We have one of these too. Best dog I've ever owned. But hates water. Ours is good with people, but when he was young I put of lot of work into bringing him places and getting him socialized.

Where did y'all find your Vizslas? Every place I've looked has sent me a 10 page interview application. Any suggestions?

That's the sign of a good breeder. Means they care about placing their puppies in good homes, and it also means that they are taking good care of their puppies (and not inbreeding like so many backyard breeders do )

If you would like your house torn apart, then by all means, get a weimaraner. I've never seen a more destructive animal than a weimaraner.

Heelers are awesome dogs. Grew up with one. But many are "one person" or at best "one family" dogs. Not always best for irritating little kids.

It's expensive.

And we had to fill out a long arse application, send pics of our backyard and house, send a letter from our vet, and make an in person visit to the breeder in Memphis before she would agree to take our money.

There are very few PWD breeders in the US - besides the one we used in Memphis, the closest one to us was in Maryland.

Their breeding association is really strict about who they let breed.

He was worth every penny and I sleep well knowing I didn't support some gross puppy mill.

Like I said, we have had mostly mixed breed/rescues but I did my research and fell in love with the breed and I don't feel bad at all for that.

My goal when I get the kids out of the house and retire is to go through the approval process to become a PWD breeder.

you looking for Larger Dog?
I had Dalmation 'bout 5-6 yrs old...
was good dog but not really for kids...
I like the bull Mastiff idea...
would say Bulldogs, but they shed like hell...
A lot of the short hairs shed as much as the others...
