instead of some random subdivision. A lot of colleges have a mansion for their president/chancellor or whatever they call him. That way people know where to go throw shite when they're displeased.

Because when you make that much money you can just live in Nola.

I believe they have a house, it's just off campus around the lakes. Unless that was just the chancellor at the times personal house, but we went to a party there when I was still in school. It was a pretty nice place, but it was definitely 60's-70's cheesy architecture and needed some updating.

I think he used to. Someone told me the house on the corner of State St. and Dalyrymple (the one on the tiny lake) used to be the house reserved for the Chancellor; maybe it's too small or close to student apartments now. (Ok, technically that house isn't quite on campus, but close enough.)

It is still there for the chancellor.

There is a chancellor's residence and it's on the lake somewhere and the last couple back to Emmert have lived there. It was a dump before Emmert arrived and he spent a lot of money on it to upgrade it.

I'm pretty sure his house is the one across from the bird sanctuary on East Lakeshore. The house with the flag pole with the US and LSU flag on it.

ETA:(Corner of E. Lakeshore and Bengal ln on the north side)

Well its like the Mobile leprechaun, he only comes out at dawn and dusk and disappears if you shine a light on him.

Yes the house across from the Bird Sanctuary at the lakes is owned by LSU and used by the chancellor or the President.

He chose to pay for his own place because the upkeep on the Chancellors Residence on East Lakeshore was expensive.

It looks "funky" because it was design by one of Frank Lloyd Wright's understudies.

The LSU Facility Services van in the driveway on Street View does seem to back this up.

And why is this thread anchored?

The old President's House next to the bookstore has not been used for that purpose in sometime. The current president/chancellor's house is located at 2959 East Lakeshore Drive. The house was built in 1948, and was purchased by LSU in 1964 as the offical residence of the president. While the 5,600+ square foot house is not technically on campus, it is a short distance away. Here's an article about it: LINK
