Why does eduroam suck so badly?

Can LSU not afford somewhat decent internet infrastructure? Or is it like everything else and they half assed it?

What is this eduroam you speak of? I graduated in 2006...

LSU used to have bad arse wifi. pretty much blanketed the inner campus.

It's not bad when it works, but when it makes me try to log on 5 times before it registers and there's random shite show days (the first day of class this semester) it gets frustrating.

Oh you big ole babies. I remember when we had to go to the library to use the CARD Catalog. And on the first floor was about 8 terminals where you get register for a Tiger account and use this fancy new thing called email.

Yeah, these kids don't know how good they have it. We used to have to phone in to schedule classes. The entire campus.. on the same day. I would spend the entire Sunday watching XFiles reruns hitting hang up, redial, hang up, redial, hang up, redial. This was an hours long process.

It was replaced this year with eduroam, which is a national wifi network that spans many universities. Basically, it allows a student with an eduroam login to access wifi at a large number of universities as well as some airports. The only problem is LSU sucks at wifi, nothing new.

i didn't use reggie at first, i was one of the first classes to use paws to register. That was a shite show and a half, after a couple hours of trying to get on, I decided to use reggie, got right through. From then on, I said frick paws and only used reggie to register.

Yes. It was good times drunkenly scheduling classes because you could only get in at 2 or 3 am. I woke up and was like god damnit....
Luckily they had the internet system running fairly well for most of my time there.

Yeah I am not sure if paws was there when I started in 98 but I remember at least by my second or third year I would use both.

I don't really bring my computer to class so I never have a problem. The library usually sucks though.
I love the idea of eduroam though. When we went to the A&M football game my phone automatically connected to wifi on campus. pretty cool
