On a somewhat similar note, is staying on the site registered the same way with IT as being active on the site? In other words, is having a TD tab open just as "bad" as actively opening links and making post on TD as far as IT is concerned?

Well when I'm not on TD at work I'm adding value to the company and improving our ROI.

My guess is they don't give a shite because all my work gets done.

What's the difference?

Sitting in my office on my phone all day on TD is somehow more professional than doing it on my phone?

Somebody I work with got caught red handed watching porn on the clock and didn't get fired.

I think I'll be okay.

More unprofessional than sitting next to a computer and playing on (posting from) your phone?

Our company indicated is was okay to occasionally check personal email and occasionally use the Internet for browsing on a work computer based on several layers of the firewall protection. I did not use it for other than company use.

I don't think so.

Being the terrible/hypocritical boss I am on TD all day, I had a slacker team member who I knew was on her school site all day, so we got our IT department to basically give us a report of every time our servers pinged the school's website servers, or whatever the correct term is for that.

So basically every click or refresh would count as 1. I'd be fired on the spot if they did that to my computer.

If I'm browsing on my computer, it doesn't look bad.

If I'm constantly holding my phone and staring at the screen, it's blatantly obvious what I'm doing.

My boss couldn't hear me ask for permission. The YouTube video he was watching drowned out my voice.

Well most businesses allow internet usage within reason. I just stay away from the NSFW posts...even working for the US Government we are allowed internet access...as long as it doesn't violate any of the IT security or policies we can post/read within reason.
