Why are some school zones 20 MPH and some 35 MPH?

I just went trough one that was 35. I want to know why.

They are 15mph where I'm located.

I think it usually has to do with higher speed highways and city limits of certain parts. That is what I have noticed at least.

bad schools usually are 35 mph. Hell, most of baton rouge public schools have "do not pick up hitch hikers" signs as well

It's higher around magnet schools because the kids are faster.

We put the lower speed zones around the schools filled with kids we know will turn out well.

This school is an A rated school at 35. No neutral ground. School is not set back any further than most schools. Might have to do with the street or highway it is on and city limits.

There is a school zone out here that is 40 mph. It is a more rural area.

They are slower around black schools so it will give the police a better reason to pull them over and shoot 'em.

They are 10 mph slower than the regular speed limit of the road or street they are located on, i believe.
