Legit. I've been trying to get past the 545 mark and just can't seem to generate enough initial pull. Plateaus for days.

Is this a thread where I show off my abs?

Every thread is appropriate for that washboard, bro. Bust em out! I'll get the clothes and soap!

It's a two part move in it's most basic form, and is really a hip/core exercise. Imagine the bar is on a fixed path, one straight line up and down. Activate your glutes/hamstrings on the way up and a slight hip thrust once you are over your knees squeezing your quads and glutes. When I say hip thrust, do not exaggerate this. You generate the power from your hip thrust, but if you over extend and arch your back too much at the finish it will put alot of pressure on your hip joints and lower back. Not trying to be Mr.Trainer, just trying to help you.
.

Yea you really hafta focus a ton on squeezing the quads and driving those hips. The second pull is what limits me which supposedly is abnormal. My glutes and traps beast the first part but my quads let me down if I fail.

Squats are for building strength, Deadlifts are for testing it - George Zangas.

Deads are great. But truly DL'ing heavy is a bitch to recover from...don't do too often.

I pretty much only do olympic style clean and press at the gym. I might get on an eliptical every once in a while, but thats it. I grunt really loud while doing this (both the clean and press and the eliptical).

I have done them with a couple rounds of SS. Now I am committed to using them each week. While I don't have impressive stats yet, it was great to finally get past 350.

I agree. A couple of months ago I finally pulled 705 conventional by concentrating on heavy bent over rows and deadlifting every 2 weeks. Every time I try to deadlift on a consistent basis I end up tweaking something.
