Is that what your husband told you it was?

There's thousands of strands of the flu, and they give you a shot for 1 strand they think might be most popular. What a load of bullshite.

They actually look at the previous year to try to determine what strands to include in the next year's vaccine. The flu virus is constantly adapting...thus why we need a shot every year. And...the flu shot usually protects against 3-4 strains...not just one.

The flu shot doesn't give you the flu. It does however take 2 weeks to give you protection. So you could have been exposed to the flu before the shot could do it's job.

Or you could have one of the several other respiratory viruses that are present that are NOT the flu but make you have cold symptoms and fever.

Getting vaccines can make the arm you get it in sore for a few days and cause you to have a low grade fever and minor aches. That is just your body's natural response to the vaccine. Means your immune system is at work.

Thankfully this year hasn't been as horrible as last year's flu season(AZ got hit pretty bad last year in the later part of the flu season).

ETA: Everyone saying they have the flu....how do you know you have it? Was this actually diagnosed with a positive flu swab? Or just off symptoms? Again...RSV, HRV, and Coronavirus are all respiratory viruses popular this time of year that can also cause you to feel like crap.

I never went get diagnosed but my dad did with a swab. Type A influenza. He was ok after a couple of days.

I started feeling sick after visiting my parents the day before he went to the Dr so I self diagnosed. Not very scientific but probably the most likely scenario.

Well that's much better than the people who get a fever and a cough and think they most certainly have the flu

Type A seems to be the one going around the most this season.

Took a flu test yesterday. Positive. Felt like death all day. Woke up this morning with a shitty cough but no fever or aches. Hopefully one more day of not moving off my couch will have me well enough to go to work/school

I'm just getting over the stomach flu. Got a flu shot but the doc said the shot first protect against the stomach variety, only seasonal.

Got it yesterday morning. Had to leave work. I feel better this morning but I'm weak as hell since I haven't really been able to eat anything for twenty four hours. It's the worst.

Me. Got my flu shot back in october, but that did no good. Woke up on new years eve to bad stomach pains, friend I was with suggested taking castor oil to get rid of the issues. Not even 10 seconds later threw up everywhere, spent the rest of ny eve in a bed at my friends. Happy 2017!!

Age has a lot to do with it.

Previous exposure confers degree of immunity.

Two daughters in 30's. Very sick. A long time.
Me and wife a few down days. Two days actually doing nothing.

To the poster complaining people talk about this topic, i find it useful to know whats going around, recovery period.

I stopped getting the flu shot. Made me sick 6 yrs ago. No mas.

It was going around my kids class. Well I got it Sunday morning. Woke up throwing up at 4am. Still felt like a train hit me yesterday, today feeling a little better and able to function somewhat.

I got the flu shot late in the season and it had included more than one strand. They should really give you two shots per year.

I had some kind of nasty throw up bug last week. Tested negative for flu but had all the symptoms. Only lasted three days but I lost twelve pounds in those three. shite was no joke

I caught the flu once when I was like six and haven't had it since. *knocks on wood*

I've never had a flu shot either.
