as a lover of old steam trains... this pic just has everything I can love visually (I'd love to be able to hear the train's whistle)


that's from the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad, located in Chama, NM... the railroad runs between both Colorado & New Mexico

ETA: they apparently run special trains during this time of the year called "Gold Rush" special due to the fall colors out there

Actually, there's a place close by where you can get all your fall colors: Arkansas. I used to live there; October is as colorful as New England, plus the weather's better. Stay at Mather Lodge, Petit Jean Park, or just about anywhere west of LR up to the Ozarks.

Has been pretty nice in Massachusetts, but I'm not sure about best in the country.
