If the job REQUIRES a BS degree and you don't have a BS, I fail to see how experience will make up for the base of knowledge they want you to have. Don't let that stop you from trying though, frick it. Own it. I have a friend who went to LSU Vet school without even getting an undergrad. He just took the required classes and applied. He doesn't apologize for it.

there's no use Salmon.

There is a reason he got a BGS. It was not an easy road for him, I am convinced

Simple question: did you take ALL of the classes required for a biology degree?

do they have to say their degree is in General Studies?

I've never heard of such a major. Is this just basically saying you went to college and passed?

Right - it's not misleading when he says this, it's false.

He has a bachelor's degree - in general studies. If he wants to say he had an area of emphasis in biological sciences, I wouldn't beat him up about that.

But if he says he has a science degree or biology degree - unless TigerTerd is a degree granting institution, he's lying out of his arse.

"I'm dropping out of school to join the family business."

Oh what is it?

"Well, my dad's a medical doctor. It's not about what you know, it's who you know."

I'll be damned if I'm gonna tell anyone what my real degree is in. I usually say Finance or Math or Chinese Language or some shite, because that stops the conversation dead–I mean, who wants to talk about that crap?

I, no shite, work as a mechanical engineer without having the degree. I do specific work I have experience in (that may be a stretch - I do very fringe engineering topics), and I have NEVER ever said I had the degree. It just is what it is. My boss is a PE ME and he proudly stamps my work. fricking strange, but I could kind of see where he's coming from, kind of.

Yea, but you have a masters in engineering. You also don't run around pretending to have a BS in something that you don't. You're also much smarter than the OP

ETA: edited to clarify that you do have a BS. Just not in engineering.

If he has a job as a Biologist, then he can claim that he is a Biologist. But he cannot claim that his degree is in Biology.

My grandfather was an Engineer for 25 years. He never went to college. But his position title at NOLA SWB was Engineer.

I have 30+ hours in Mandarin studies, and even though I would have at least gotten a minor in every other college in the United States (almost literally, since Ole Miss has ridiculous requirements for Chinese majors and minors), I can't say I minored in Chinese. I say I had a heavy concentration on Chinese, and I've been certified as professional proficient in it by taking the HSK test, so my bases are still covered.

Well yes becuase you degree is in something, not just a bachelors or masters. I tell them i have bachelors in history and a masters in museum studies. If they are curious about more, I tell them how I focused my studies on certain themes.

They say general studies because that's what their degree is in. That's just common sense. They didn't pick a certain content area.

This may have been discussed but is it really labeled as a BGS? I would have thought either a BS or BA and the concentration is general studies. Sorry, not sorry for not reading the entire thread.

my job title is "environmental engineer". I don't have an engineering degree. I never say i'm an engineer. If somebody asks what i do, i say i work environmental compliance. My job is all compliance, not engineering. It's just a job title. Job titles don't mean shite when it comes to what the actual degree is...well some do i guess

If they ask my degree, i simply say science.

At first I thought you were confused, now I see you are a typical sociopath, telling whatever lie necessary to get what you want.

I assume this has come up because you are walking a tight line with someone about what you told them vs. what is actually true.

I hope they are as inquisitive as this bunch and nail your lying arse to the wall, you fricking poser.
