Music, especially bass music, is the worst.

the garbage truck at 5am sucks too, but hey, it's not like you can call the police on them.

Preface: I'm a dog owner and dog lover....

A neighbor in my apartment building left her balcony door open all day and let her dog stay out there. Whenever someone came by, the dog barked (very loudly; fellow apartment dwellers agreed with me). The owner would come out and scold the dog ("No!, No!"), bring it inside and close the door. I'd pass by 5 minutes later and the little bastard was out there again. Once again, the dog would bark, the owner would scold, bring the dog inside and closed the door. 5-10 minutes later, the scenario would repeat itself. This went on ALL DAY. After 11 months of this stuff, I went toe-to-toe with the complex management (I made a series of recordings with my iPhone; indisputable evidence) and they finally put their foot down and warned the owner. Rather than simply keeping her door closed or keeping the dog confined to an inside room while the door was open, the owner decided to move out.

I like living in the country so no one bothers me and I don't bother any one.

No, but you can call your city councilman twice a week when the garbage truck passes to let him know that the truck is on time and you would like to thank public works and the driver for being up and at it at oh-dark-thirty.

Nothing motivates a city councilman like an appreciative and attentive public.

I live by an interstate, a race track, a police precinct, and a fire hall. I can sleep through the apocalypse.

I work nights. I've always thought about mowing my yard at 3am the next time my neighbor mows at noon.

I wouldn't ever call the cops on any of my neighbors unless I've asked them in person multiple times to shut the frick up.

I'd be fricking livid if one of my neighbors didn't have the balls to come ask me to turn my shite down or tell me I'm being too loud and just called the cops.

ETA: I don't really have this issue in my neighborhood. All of my neighbors are pretty cool

Midnight on weeknights is my cutoff. I go in person to tell the neighbor that I have to work the next morning and to please be respectful of that. I have never had issues with compliance in the 6 or 7 times I have been forced to do that at my current residence.

However, one time a neighbor woke me up partying at 3 am. It was a huge party with cars up and down the street. So I called the cops. I don' know how long it took the cops to get there but by 3:30, it was quiet again. This was a Wednesday night. Some people are just massive assholes who have no respect for others. I hope that neighbor is in a ditch somewhere right now.

What do you do about the assholes that thinks it is ok to drive through a residential neighborhood at 1:00 with the bass turned all the way up on in their car? You have to have been beaten and raped as a child if you are willing to do that to others. Wakes me up every time.

I have thought about running out of my house and chasing down the car to ask them why the frick they were doing to this innocent people they didn't know.

Noon isn't the hottest part of the day.

That said, I love mowing during the hottest part. Makes the post cut beer that much better.

I was always a square, then, I guess. I can recall telling the driver to turn down the bass and the music when driving late at night out of respect to the houses we were passing. My mom raised me to be courteous and respectful of others.

We used to blare music with the windows down at 1AM all the time during the summer. Eventually, we grew out of it like most people do. It's annoying but not the end of the world.

I did call the cops once when I used to live in an apartment. One of the guys there had a friend that would always come and sit in the parking lot and just blast his subs. That's a little different.
