But in think the reason is not having spoiled kids, but rather parents who are addicted to bragging about what they got their children. Social media is a giant bragging contest when it comes to children

A lot of it is parents showing off for sure. I don't even think many of them go to church. Aside from a few of my good friends who posted pics of the kids in their new Easter clothes on their way to mass, most of these "look at how much stuff my kids got from the Easter Bunny" pictures didn't even show the children.

When I was a kid (mid 80s) we always got a basket of candy. I do remember other kids at school tho talking about all the toys they got.

I see a lot of people on here talking about how bad social media is nowadays. But isn't this website a form of social media?

It's the OT. We don't need that kinda logic here.

I'm beginning to wonder if kids these days are becoming extremely spoiled.

Wonder no more, they are.

This thread is full of fail.

It's completely a denominational difference. When I was growing up (1980s), it went like this:

Catholic kids: woke up, received a single chocolate bunny in their basket, and were told to show respect for Jesus by getting ready for church.

Baptist kids: woke up, received a ton of presents from Peter Cottontail overnight--like it was Christmas Day or something (will never forget the Easter that all the Baptist kids on the block were bragging about getting the newly-released "E.T." Atari game among their gifts...it turned out to be a real dud of a game though ).
