I’m not sure if I’ve even ever had a donut from there. I always ever got the kolaches. It’s been a while though.

How would you rate Shipley’s

Nothing special LESS AND EXCEPT a single one of its locations: the now-defunct Monroe, LA Louisville Ave location……which ranked overall number one donut shop in the entire world for as long as it was open. In my mind it was anyway.

Six pages about doughnuts.

You’re all a bunch of fatties. Have some self respect.

I could go the rest of my life without ever eating another donut and it wouldn’t bother me one iota.

When they first came out they were good, in my opinion, not so much anymore.

Bob Evans, Homestead; scrambled, sausage patties, hash browns (NOT HASH TANS), sausage gravy and biscuits. Tabasco.

What kind of sacrilegious communist bullshite is this???

Grew up on Southern Maid. Mainly the one on Kings Hwy by Centenary that has been gone for a long time. When I visit my parents, I pop into Lickin’ Good on East Kings. Very light and delicate glazed, like Southern Maid used to be. Delicious.

I got (and still get) a bunch of shite for saying Lickin’ Good is better than Southern Maid, but they are so much better.

Hot glazed from the Spudnut Shop in El Dorado Ar. Best donut on the planet. They have fruit filled and custard eclairs but you have to be lined up super early to get those. Once they sell out, they're done. Every day for decades.

It's the one place I'd recommend to outsiders around here. Unless you want to eat at the last Minuteman in existence for nostalgia purposes.

Same but I don't dislike them. I'm just not a sweets eater. I could say the same thing about cake, chocolate, pie, candy etc. My wife thinks it's weird, I'll go 6-8 months without eating something like that.

I'd wager I have eaten less than 6 in the last 10 years. If you count beignets, then its another story, but just a regular round donut? nah, no interest.

I'd rather my calories be taken up by rib eyes and cabernet, than fried dough.

Breakfast only? I'd take a good breakfast burrito over a donut 10 out of 10 times.
