I like A chocolate covered cake donut.
McKenzies has the best. It I find Mary Lee’s are very good.
And then I like A good buttermilk drop.

Shipley's on Jackson Street was the go to as a kid in Alexandria way back in the 70's & 80's. I have still not had a better donut.
Never cared for Meche's when I moved south. They do not make a good donut. They are almost as bad as Krispy Kreme.
In the Salt Lake area, it is hard to beat Parson's Bakery in Bountiful.

Boston Cream or Chocolate filled, paired with a glazed for contrast.

No donut. The Zummo kolache! Every am.

Dang, I’ve pretty much cut sugar and wheat but on that rare occasion it’s a fresh hot Krispy Kreme glazed, right off the conveyer belt. Incredible with cold milk.

I rarely get the opportunity to enjoy a donut, but raspberry jelly glazed is magical.

Hot glazed from Shipleys are the best
Then Southern Maid
Every time I go back to visit family in Kingwood, I get Shipley at least once. If I go to Bossier, I’ll get Souther Maid. Can’t find good donuts up here in IL to save my life
