most will give you a free week, or at least a few days to check them out.

You seem to be pretty knowledgable. Drop in and check it out, if it feels right, stick around. If it doesn't, move on.

I always wanted to learn Olympic lifting, and this could supplement my future judo/ jiu jitsu training.
Steve Maxwell says that Olympic lifting is useless for jiu jitsu practitioners

I did crossfit for a month and loved it 'til I f-ed my back up. I tell everyone to stay away from it.

Well maxwell is more than legit, I know Rooney (the author of hurricane training) has his fighters do push presses deadlifts etc or maybe hang cleans and not the full pull from the floor.

I used to be able to do the one legged pistol squats

I used to be a carpenter until I hit my thumb with a hammer. Now I tell everyone to stay away from wood-based furniture.

maxwell might be legit, doesn't mean he knows shite about strength training.

btw the best way to train for a sport is to get stronger on the big lifts, not olympic lifts. atleast to a certain point. olympic lifts are great after you have reached a very high level of strength in bench, squat, deads, cleans, and shoulder press. until then they should be a secondary focus, same goes for gymnastic progressions.

I've been in two gyms. One had shitty time slots. So when I joined the 2nd I looked for a gym with multiple times.

Coaches are important. Also, space is important so you're not crowded all the time. They all do Olympic lifts and most have Olympic lift night.

Also quality of women in the gym lol..kidding most of the ones in my gym are lesbians
