If you can't be bothered to take a pill once a day, then what in the hell makes you think you can fundamentally change your eating habits?

Oh, and by the way, even if you do, it still won't work as well as pharmaceuticals.

So, lets see. We have a choice here. Go vegan, take some questionable supplements, don't drink, start exercising and lifting, and reduce overall stress.

Or you can take a pill.

Look, I'm all for you totally changing your life and going vegan, stopping smoking and drinking, and taking up a vigorous exercise program. If you can do that, great. Do it.

I figure maybe 2 out a thousand people in your situation actually do that when given the choice.

The other 998 people actually take the pill.

And some people who even do the total lifestyle change still need the pill...

Of course you can die. I mean dying is always an option.

cardiologist said considering it was so high and considering i'm in good shape (never smoked, always been a runner), it's probably familial hypercholesterolimia.

i started running 6 miles a day, cut down drinking to a max of 6 beers per week, basically living the cleanest life possible, and i've gotten it down to 250 total. if i stray at all, it pops back up to the 300 range.

That is very very false. And the inflammatory crap is for the few, not the many. You are spreading dangerous crap there.

Look, Jack. For lots of people, high cholesterol is in their DNA, so, they are born with it.

Doesn't matter if all they eat is celery -- they will still have high c.

For most of history, baws like that just lived until they died young from it. Then, not too long ago, some smart baws invented medicine for it.

Now, lots of medicines for different stuff have severe side affects. Lucky for you that high c medicines don't have that problem.

If your fish oil and other supplements don't work, and they might not, just get an Rx for something that will lower your cholesterol. Get your blood lab tested once or twice a year for the rest of your life.

The medicine isn't that bad -- and it works.

Cholesterol. Previously, the Dietary Guidelines for Americans recommended that cholesterol intake be limited to no more than 300 mg/day. The 2015 DGAC will not bring forward this recommendation because available evidence shows no appreciable relationship between consumption of dietary cholesterol and serum cholesterol, consistent with the conclusions of the AHA/ACC report.2 35 Cholesterol is not a nutrient of concern for overconsumption.

Warnings against eating foods high in cholesterol, like eggs or shrimp, have been a mainstay of dietary recommendations for decades. That could change if the scientific advisory panel for the 2015 iteration of the Dietary Guidelines for Americans has its say. A summary of the committee’s December 2014 meeting says “Cholesterol is not considered a nutrient of concern for overconsumption.” Translation: You don’t need to worry about cholesterol in your food.

The panel also dropped a longstanding recommendation that Americans restrict their intake of dietary cholesterol from foods like eggs and shrimp — a belated acknowledgment of decades of research showing that dietary cholesterol has little or no effect on the blood cholesterol levels of most people.

No offense, but you do not know what the frick you are talking about

You are stuck with antiquated science that refuses to die...
Eat a fricking egg or 2 to make some testosterone to assist your cortical functioning

I can link more formal contemporary data if you would like to read it...

Read the book I posted earlier

It is a meta-analysis on nutrition and exercise. It is a long read, but you will walk away with a CONTEMPORARY understanding of things

Gonna be honest, I don't have the attention span to read a book. I'll check YouTube though

Just remember that the man who understands principles can use the information for many applications

The man who only has a superficial understanding of applications will remain frustrated/confused

This thread is an example

No side effects except for these inconsequential things. There is a risk benefit equation with every single drug.

From Mayo Clinic.

•Liver damage. ...
•Digestive problems. ...
•Rash or flushing. ...
•Increased blood sugar or type 2 diabetes. ...
